Spend your vacation week visiting another world (at Amesbury Public Library)! This program is a self contained quest and so you can come if you've never played D&D or a roleplaying game before or if you are a huge fan (and meet some other fans)! This Session is specifically organized for kids ages 11-14.
Have you always wanted to play D&D? Are you already an avid D&D player? Whether you have been playing for years or are new to the game the library invites you to join our new club. Join the specialists of Wingmasters for a live birds of prey demonstration at the Hamilton Wenham Public Library. Birds of prey are also known as raptors, and they are hunting birds characterized by hooked beaks and powerful grabbing feet armed with sharp talons (the word raptor comes from a Latin word that means "to seize"). Raptors can also boast the best eyesight and the sharpest hearing in the animal kingdom. Raptors include hawks, falcons and owls, and this presentation, which incorporates 8 live birds of prey gives an overview of these different categories.
Come to HW Library to celebrate National Children's Dental Health Month with local dentist, Dr. Priscilla Magnuson of Green Willow Dental. Enjoy stories, songs & activities about teeth and dentists. Children will have an opportunity to practice their brushing skills on Skylar the Horse! Families of all ages welcome.
Winter is the perfect time of year to go out in search of owls. Before we head out on our adventure, we'll learn about these fascinating birds in our Nature Center using real owl mounts, feathers, and talons. We'll end our exploration with an owl-hooting lesson!
Students ages 8-10 are encourage to come to the Danvers Library to learn the game of Chess! We have the chess boards -- you bring your brain & sportspersonship. Registration required.

Join us for a very special evening hike to see the owls who might be out and about in the dark winter woods and fields of Appleton Farms. This hike will take place along the trails of Appleton, known to have multiple species of owls. Before our hike, you’ll learn about wintertime nocturnal animals and what to listen for on your journey. Then, we’ll embark on a 45-60 minute hike as we follow some of Appleton Farms’ most beautiful trails to see what we can hear.
Explore a variety of local ecosystems, learn more about a wide range of natural history topics, and do real wildlife data collection and conservation projects in this exciting club for teens!
The Superbowl of Birding 2024 is a unique competition conducted in Rockingham County, NH, and Essex County, MA. During a 12-hour period, teams of birders of all ages and abilities seek out the greatest number of avian species and amass the most points based on the rarity of the birds recorded. Teams compete this year for prizes in 11 categories. Enjoy spectacular winter birding and find out just how good you and your team really are!
