Celebrate the Holidays on Thanksgiving weekend with the Cape Ann Symphony. Gospel sensation Renese King will be the soloist. Holiday favorites for the whole family concluding with the annual audience sing-along. Come join us and get into the spirit of the season!
Join us for a very intriguing and exciting season opener! 1801 to 1804 was a very fertile period for Beethoven and we find him recycling one simple theme heard throughout each of the pieces on this concert program – his Twelve Contradances, ballet music from The Creatures of Prometheus and Beethoven’s groundbreaking Symphony No. 3 where it is transformed into something other-worldly.
Cape Ann Symphony presents Danse Macabre! This Halloween don’t let your kids have all the fun – join us for a spooky concert of ghostly music performed by the principal “fiends” of our string section! Featuring works by Shostakovich, Saint-Saëns and our own Scott Moore, you’re certain to walk out of this performance screaming for more!
Presenting the joyous, fun filled music of Mozart's Overture to the Marriage of Figaro and Haydn’s delightful "Clock" Symphony. We conclude with Brahms' incredibly powerful, yet lyrical Piano Concerto No. 1 featuring the incredible pianist Michael Lewin. If this doesn't bring everyone out of their seats nothing will.
The Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras presents their Afternoon of Spring Concerts on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at the Dolan Performing Arts Center, 130 High Street, in Ipswich, MA. Highlighting this selection of French symphonic miniatures is harpist Ina Zdorovetchi. She will be featured in Debussy's gorgeous Danse Sacrée e Profane and Ravel's sparkling Introduction and Allegro.
Thrill to music from Austria, Spain and Japan. Beethoven’s Fifth is possibly the world’s most well known symphony with its powerful four note opening. Rodrigo’s immediately recognizable and popular Concierto de Aranjuez put Rodrigo on the map as one of the world’s great 20th Century composers. It also helped make the classical guitar the respectable solo instrument it has become.
Koto’s Stormy and Calm Seas a new piece commissioned by the Cape Ann Symphony is a musical depiction of the ocean during a storm and the calm that comes afterwards.
A Cape Ann holiday tradition, the Cape Ann Symphony Pops is a celebration of with favorites by Anderson, Bach, Herbert, Tchaikovsky, Rutter, Handel and more. The orchestra will be joined by the Cape Ann Symphony Chorus directed by Wendy Betts. We will conclude with the ever popular audience sing-along.
