GUS will host an exclusive, free screening of the movie "Eighth Grade" on Thursday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m. From the NY Times review: "In his sharp, smart comedy Eighth Grade, the director understands that some of the most pronounced extremes of teenage-hood take place in that lonely room known as our heads." Written and directed by North Shore native Bo Burnham, "Eighth Grade" is the story of a 13-year old middle schooler "enduring the tidal wave of contemporary suburban adolescence as she makes her way through the last week of middle school—the end of her thus disastrous eighth grade year—before she begins high school." We'll enjoy coffee, juice and breakfast snacks at Lynch Park before our 3-mile stroll through the heart of the Beverly and along the shore. Back at Lynch Park, we'll enjoy more refreshments and celebrate our success. Please support The Walk to reverse the downward spiral of poverty on the North Shore, one family at a time.

She is the author of The New York Times bestselling book, The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed.

Ms. Lahey teaches high school English and writing in a drug rehab for adolescents in Vermont, and her next book, The Addiction Inoculation: Raising Healthy Kids in a Culture of Dependence, will be released in 2020
