Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center hosts the 12th Annual White Ribbon Event at the Andover Country Club

Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center is excited to announce our 12th annual White Ribbon event, Pledge for Change. We invite the members of our communities to gather together and pledge their support to end gender-based violence. This evening event will raise critically needed funds for our Youth Empowerment Services (YES). The Center’s YES programs work to foster healthy, safe and equitable relationships for youth, and help them thrive through meaningful connections in safer communities.

Katherine Lewis, researcher and author of The Good News about Bad Behavior, will speak in Tower's Phillips Library. Ms. Lewis presents a comprehensive portrait of bad behavior—and highlights game-changing strategies. Lewis, a certified parent educator, walks parents through 4 empowering approaches, all of which share three key components, to help parents navigate tricky behavioral situations and work toward better solutions. Her outline of an Apprenticeship Model of parenting gives kids responsibility within increasing limits.

GUS: Navigating Social Media Use in the Modern Teenage World

Glen Urquhart School invites us explore the modern-day middle school landscape, how social media has changed how our children socialize and interact in and out of the classroom, and the impact social media has on our children - whether they’re active participants or not. Ozgur Akbas, a licensed family therapist, will help us to better understand what our children are facing in an online world, as well as the social-emotional implications, and will share best practices for managing social media use and helping your kids navigate the responsibility that comes with this aspect of the modern teenage world.

Kaitlin Roig-Debellis is credited with saving the lives of fifteen first-grade students at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14th, 2012. Her inspirational talk is suitable for everyone age 10 and older.
