Come to Appleton Farms for this very special workshop with chef Carolyn Grieco as we explore the wonderful world of ancient grains and how to incorporate them in your daily cooking. Locally grown and milled grains are popping up everywhere and their culinary popularity continues to grow. We’ll explore many different varieties of grains along with their flavor & texture profiles, nutritional benefits, and how to handle them in the kitchen. We’ll prepare unique recipes incorporating some of these grains, and enjoy a wonderful dinner at the end of the evening. Class includes hands-on cooking with professional chef instruction and printed recipes. BYBO beer & wine allowed.

Hone you culinary skills at this Appleton Cooks workshop series in Ipswich Massachusetts!

This ‘back-to-basics’ series provides a comprehensive approach to the fundamentals of cooking as we explore traditional culinary methods & techniques to enhance your knowledge, skill, and understanding in the kitchen.  Each workshop will focus in-depth on a particular skill set, with guided hands-on practice as we prepare seasonal dishes applying specific techniques. Proper knife skills, measuring, and kitchen tools will also be discussed, and all workshops include chef instruction, printed recipes, and a light lunch in the farmhouse!

Steven Schragis, a Tufts University graduate, came up with a solution almost as good. He founded One Day University for adults in 2006. By canvassing campuses and talking to students, he finds the most popular educators and then works closely with them to develop engaging talks that inform and inspire their adult students-for-a-day.

No lengthy recipes or special shopping list needed… we’ll prepare delicious, creative dishes using only a handful of seasonal ingredients and culinary techniques for simple success in your home kitchen. These recipes are sure to please all, whether weeknight suppers for the family or company dinners, and our menu may include dishes such as Escarole & Dropped Egg Soup with Parmesan, Maple & Mustard Crusted Chicken, Shell Pasta with Spicy Red Clam Sauce, and Sheet Pan Veggie Roasts. Class includes hands-on cooking, chef instruction, printed recipes, and a wonderful meal at the end of the evening.
