Tour de Greenbelt

Essex County Greenbelt will host their annual road cycle event to raise funds for conservation efforts on the North Shore!

SEPTEMBER 15: RIDE IS CANCELED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, PLEASE RIDE VIRTUALLY SEPTEMBER 18-24! VISIT THE WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION. Essex County Greenbelt Association will host the annual road cycle event to raise funds for conservation efforts on the North Shore! Cycling enthusiasts of all abilities can ride through some of Essex County’s most beautiful landscapes in this annual road cycle event to benefit local land conservation. Whether a seasoned road cyclist or a beginner, you can enjoy at your own pace one of three routes offered by Tour de Greenbelt: a 50 mile ride, a shorter route (25 miles), and Gravel Grinder Routes (40 mile and 28 mile), with off-road excursions into protected forests and reservations.

The Donkey Derby at Myopia Hunt Club in Hamilton is a fun way to raise funds for the Equine Rescue Network. The mission of the event is to ENJOY the day and raise awareness of donkeys, mules and other barnyard animals. Donkeys make great pets! They are affectionate, agile & athletic. There is no definition of a “DONKEY DERBY” because we made it up. Yes, there will be donkeys racing around, and perhaps a few mules, horses, goats or cows. There will be lots of people too – animals in costumes, food trucks and perhaps beer.

Guided Tour of the Patton Homestead

Come to the Patton Homestead in Hamilton Massachusetts for a guided Sails and Trails Tour

The tour will include facts about the property & how it was used from the 1920’s through 2012 when the Patton’s donated it to the Town of Hamilton. Marc Johnson, Friends of the Patton Homestead Board Member, and Town liaison, will lead the tour through the stables, past named family trees, and enjoy a walk down to the overlook of the Ipswich River, built with Essex County Greenbelt. The tour will end on the upper patio of the home in time for an author discussion, and a glimpse of the famed “When and If” artifacts hosted by the Wenham Museum at the Patton Family Archive.

Essex County Greenbelt Association hosts a 5k/10k Race at Vineyard Hill in South Hamilton Massachusetts

Essex County Greenbelt Association hosts a 5k/10k Race at Vineyard Hill in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. Located on the town line of Hamilton and Topsfield, MA, this 5k/10k trail course takes runners over Vineyard Hill, through sections of Bradley Palmer State Park, along the Bay Circuit Trail, and across Greenbelt's scenic Shaw Field. The trails are wide and fast, though Vineyard Hill itself adds a challenge to this course!

Come experience miltary history and family fun at the Patton Homestead in Hamilton Massachusetts

The mission of this public event is to highlight and honor military service and veterans. The event is a day-long exhibition of vintage military vehicles, equipment, military reenactors, speakers – both veterans and academics – and other veteran-related attractions, held on the grounds of the home of one of America’s most famous and celebrated military families.
