Pick Your Own Strawberries on the North Shore

Picking Strawberries is a fun and delicious way to spend part of your day

Have you ever eaten a hot strawberry? There's nothing better than picking a sun-heated strawberry right off of the vine and popping it in your mouth! We're lucky enough to have a couple of strawberry plants around to satisfy the immediate urge, but if we're looking to make preserves to have on hand through the winter, we head out to one of many places on the North Shore to pick away to our hearts content. June is the month to harvest strawberries in Massachusetts so don't wait too long or you'll miss out!

Green Meadows CSA shares are a great source for locally grown organic produce!

You do not have access to view this node CSA Shares are available now! The farm vegetable share starts in just a couple weeks. If you haven't signed up for your share yet, now is the time to do it. Members always have lots of choice in their share and we have flexible pick-up times. It's a great way to support the farm. So many members tell us that their weekly trips to the farm really help them unwind. The farm needs local support now to ensure that they can continue to grow some of the finest locally-grown, organic produce available on the North Shore!

Fun at Appleton Farms Sugar Shack

B takes a look at the steaming maple sap at Appleton Farms' Sugar Shack!

We decided to check out the Appleton Farms Sugar Shack recently and loved the whole experience! This new operation is taking advantage of the many maples that line the trails and dirt roads that criss-cross the farm, and they're boiling down as much as they can so that eventually there will be a small supply of pure maple syrup available at the farm store!

Farm Fresh Yogurt at Appleton Farms

A lot of great things have happened at Appleton Farms in 2012, most notably establishing their dairy operation and open their farm store to the public. Milk produced by the farm's Jersey Cow herd was sold as soon as the store opened, followed by an offering of cheeses earlier this fall. To round out the product line, they just started selling farm-fresh yogurt!
