Balch Park is located adjacent to the historic Balch House. This is the most heavily-used basketball court in the city; it is the home to an adult summer league in addition to city-wide use. The baseball and soccer fields are used to the maximum by the Babe Ruth League and the Beverly High School teams in the spring and summer. In fall, the soccer field, which traverses the outfield, is used by both youth and high school soccer.
Magnolia Woods is a beautiful recreational area built on 25 acres of land. It is home to all of Gloucester’s Soccer programs as it houses seven soccer fields and a small softball field. The park is open to all visitors who can do any of the following activities: bird watch, nature walk, check out the variety of wild flowers growing in the area, and cross country ski in the winter months. Future site imrpvements include additional parking and restroom facilities. This site was previously the location of the Gloucester dump which was cleaned up and capped back in the early 1990's.
This waterfront park offers lots of open space with facilities for basketball, baseball, soccer, and tennis, as well as a fairly big field, a playground and a boat ramp.

In the Early History of Beverly, this area was referred to a Sanke Hill Commons. Sally Milligan Park was a gift to the citizens of Beverly from Hugh Taylor Birch who gave the original thirty-one acres to the city in 1933. He intended the park to be a memorial to his mother, Sally Milligan Birch. Mr. Birch wanted the park to be a place where residents of Beverly, especially women and children, could go and enjoy and learn from nature. He conveyed his instructions for the care of the park as follows:
Eagle's Nest playground is accessible to the general public only when school is not in session at Essex Elementary school.
This playground has several structures where children can climb, as well as a maze of walkways. There is a jumping area, a boat that moves back and forth, swings and slides. There are tables for snacks and picnics, as well as a small pond nearby where children look for frogs.
