Come join the fun at Halibut Point State Park when the Gloucester Area Astronomy Club brings their powerful telescopes to view stars, galaxies, and planets! Come to Rockport Massachusetts for a day of family fun! Following the Rockport Rotary Club Lobsterfest - Canceled, a fireworks display will light up the sky over Rockport Massachusetts! The Show begins at 9pm, and will be lit off from Granite Pier. The show will last for 20-25 Minutes, and may just include a couple of surprises according to the fireworks committee.

Come to a Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team presentation of 'Snakes of New England' at Halibut Point State Park! Afraid of snakes? You won’t be after learning about and seeing up-close a variety of local snakes and a few exotic ones! Snake fans will enjoy safe handling. Rick Roth, herpetologist and Executive Director of the Cape Ann Vernal Pond Team, will bring some of his favorite snakes to Halibut Point State Park.
Plein air painting is experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly developed as an art form by the French Impressionists. Their desire to paint light and its changing, ephemeral qualities, coupled with the creation of transportable paint tubes and the box easel—the precursor to the plein air easels of today—allowed artists the freedom to paint “en plein air,” which is the French expression for “in the open air.” Space is limited to 15. "Think Outside the Drum" is a fun, interactive, educational presentation for all ages that introduces 3 of the building blocks of music—rhythm, melody, and timbre. In just under an hour, the Grammy Award-winning musicians in Third Coast Percussion perform music from their repertoire while teaching kids to clap a rhythm from a piece by composer Steve Reich, sing a melody along with a marimba duo by composer Ivan Treviño, and understand the concept of timbre via a fun, interactive game. Free, reservations are encouraged.
Rockport traditionally celebrates Independence Day in style and this Fourth of July won't be any different. Scheduled festivities include the Firemen's Parade, a Legion Band concert, and Rockport's version of a finale - a towering bonfire at Back Beach.
