Come see and touch animal furs, replica skulls, animal models, and other natural history materials. For little artists, coloring pages and washable markers will be on hand. Open rain or shine. Come to the eighth annual Fairy Gnome Discovery Walk at Pettengill Farm. The gems of the event are the 200+ Fairy and Gnome Homes peppered throughout a 1 mile wooded path that leads to the marsh and back. Homes are created by very talented professionals, families, school children, and local businesses. The event will have Fairy Tales read in the woods, live music, performances, FREE children’s crafts, yummy food trucks serving up lunch for purchase.

Come to Spencer Peirce Little Farm for a mid-winter open house and bonfire to celebrate the official purchase of the town of Newbury on January 13, 1701. Come visit the 1690 farm house from 3-4pm. Then walk down to the town-sponsored bonfire and enjoy food, beer, wine, hot chocolate and other beverages that will be available for purchase from local vendors. The bonfire is lit around dusk (~4:30pm) Pre-purchase your parking pass for a guaranteed spot in the parking field. Parking pass ticket $20.

Visit Lowell’s Boat Shop during their Annual Holiday Open House is a two day family event during the first weekend in December. Festivities include old time music by violinist Gus La Casse and banjo player Mathias Kamin III; a children’s workshop with arts and crafts projects; visits from Santa (12 to 1 p.m. each day); a Silent Auction featuring boats, a stay at Mohonk Mountain House, sails on pinky schooner Ardelle, jewelry, and numerous gift certificates and items donated by generous area restaurants and shops.
