Join us at the Farmhouse for all things maple! As soon as our maple trees are tapped and the sap comes out of the sugar shack, all of our scratch-made menu items will include pure Appleton Farms maple syrup.
Winter is in the air and the animals of the farm and woods have prepared themselves for winter. Can we find their signs, like homes, tracks, and caches of food? What happens in winter around the farm? We invite little farmers to experience life at the farm in winter. Through farm “chores,” age-appropriate hands-on activities, stories, and visits with our barnyard animals, little farmers will become fully immersed in what life is like for a farmer.
Join the Trustees for pizza at the Farm! Tired of being cooped up in the house? So are we! Join us for a throwback to summer at this outdoor wood-fired pizza pop up event. Tickets include parking, access to the event, a complimentary hot cocoa-bar, fire pits on the farmhouse lawn and outdoor activities to entertain the kids. Food and beverage including pizza purchases will be charged separately.

Come on up to Essex Elementary School and ring in the cold winter with a hot pancake breakfast! Suggested contribution is $10 per individual or $25 for a family and all proceeds go to Essex Elementary fifth grade students’ end-of-year activities and the student activities fund. The NYS Youth Council presents the HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL. Kids in grades 6-8 can come o the Nock Gym for some some Halloween fune! Pay at the door $5 for Rec Center Members/ $10 for non-members. Costume contest, games, Dancing, Photo Booth, Food and More. The event is 6-9pm, participants can leave at any time, but no re-entry is allowed. The event is planned, organized and run by members of the Youth Council and Supervised by NYS Staff.
Head over to the Essex Shipbuilding Museum Shipyard. Fill your empty bags and baskets with veggies, eggs, flowers, crafts and other goodies. Grab a quick dinner from the Shipyard Grille and enjoy the evening by the water.

It's time for backyard birds to head south for the winter. Joppa Flats Education Center want to give them a proper send-off with a fun, free family event that features bird banding demonstrations, interactive games about bird migration, and lots of table-top science including bird-call recall, bird identification, shorebird feeding challenges, and a mystery bird nest challenge!
