Haunted Movies on the Common: “Toy Story of Terror"

Come watch a FREE showing of the Goonies on the Salem Common as part of Haunted Happenings!

Grab a blanket and the kids and head over to Salem Common at dusk for an outdoor showing of some favorite family-friendly movies that will get you in the mood for a spooktacular Halloween!  Each weekend Magic 106.7 will sponsor a different movie through October, so come to one or all!

2018 update: Due to lack of space to hold the carnival, there will be no carnival this year... Come try your skill at games on the arcade, ride the Ferris wheel and enjoy unique fair-style food  in a fun carnival atmosphere of the annual Haunted Happenings Carnival! There's fun for the whole family. Rides are a Fiesta Shows Production!  This year's Carnival is located on Derby Street.

This exhibition is the first to explore the role of empresses in shaping China’s last dynasty- the Qing dynasty - from 1644 to 1912. Nearly 200 spectacular objects from the Palace Museum tell the little-known stories of how imperial women influenced court politics, art and religion. Timed to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of U.S.-China diplomatic relations, Empresses of China's Forbidden City is organized by the Peabody Essex Museum; the Smithsonian's Freer|Sackler, Washington, D.C.; and the Palace Museum, Beijing.

The Forest River: Off the Beaten Path

Walk the Forest River and explore a hidden gem in Salem with the folks from Salem Sound Coastwatch

Join Salem Sound Coastwatch staff and volunteers to walk the Forest River and explore a hidden gem that is right in our own back yard. Stroll along the river winding its way through salt marsh, an abundant habitat for many fish and birds. Take in the view of Salem from the top of Eagle Hill and learn about this body of water that flows into Salem Harbor. Wear shoes that can get muddy. Participants should be able to walk approximately 1 mile. Hosted by Salem Sound Coastwatch.

Salem Common will be bouncy houses rides and games for Kids night on the Commons

NEW THIS YEAR the Salem YMCA is joining forces with the Salem Education Foundation to transform the Salem Common into a paradise for children with moon bounces, rides, games, and arts and crafts. Some new additions are learning how to write your name in a different language, learning how to drum, bilingual storytelling, and special performances throughout the evening.
