Grab a blanket and the kids and head over to Salem Common at dusk for an outdoor showing of some favorite family-friendly movies under the Stars! Come to Salem Common to watch the Disney Holes staring a young Shia LaBeouf! Plot: Dogged by bad luck stemming from an ancient family curse, young Stanley Yelnats (Shia LaBeouf) is sent to Camp Green Lake, a very weird place that's not green and doesn't have a lake. Once there, he's thrown headlong into the adventure of his life when he and his colorful campmates - Squid, Armpit, ZigZag, Magnet, X-Ray and Zero - must dig a hole a day to keep the warden at bay. But why? Through it all, Stanley and company must forge fast friendships as they try to unearth the mystery of what's really going on in the middle of nowhere.
Celebrate the past and the present with neighbors, friends and visitors at the Annual Salem Heritage Days Festival. Events are scheduled around Salem throughout the week, kicking off with the annual Annual Salem Merry-Time Fest and concluding with the Essex Street Fair, produced by the Salem Chamber of Commerce. The days in between are filled with food, fun, comedy and music for all ages.

Climb aboard Naumkeag, Essex Heritage’s landing craft for a trip to Bakers Island Light Station. Enjoy a 30-minute cruise from Salem past rugged coastline, harbor islands, and five lighthouses to Bakers Island. The light station is a 10-acre property that has been in use aiding in maritime navigation for almost 250 years. The site features an 1820 light tower, two keepers houses, and historic trails. During your visit you will have the chance to explore the natural landscape, learn about the history of the light station, and relax on the island setting.
S.C.E.N.E Annual Sunset Hang at Salem Willows is an event combining the skills of local vj's, dj's & live electronic musicians. The extravaganza’s purpose is: “to showcase talent right here in Salem, the North Shore & Boston. To give a stage for new music that might otherwise be overlooked by the mainstream. THIS IS OUR 9TH YEAR ON THE SHELL AND OUR 12TH PARTY IN TOTAL!!!
Unicorns, giants and monsters, oh my! This story and craft program will focus on a different mythical creature each week. Please register individually for each week you plan to attend. Registration for first two weeks will start June 24, later dates will open two weeks before each program.
Join Historic New England and the North Shore Old Car Club for the Annual Car Meet, where vintage and antique vehicles are displayed on historic Chestnut Street. Tour the first floor of Phillips House, and see the Phillips family's collection of carriages, two Pierce-Arrows, and a Model A Ford. Live music presented by Bucket of Blues.
Each weekend in July and August the House of 7 Gables invites young (and young at heart!) guests to explore different elements of colonial life through hands-on activities. These drop-in programs will run 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. Saturdays and Sundays and are free with the purchase of admission. This summer, we will be exploring traditional children’s games and the art of calligraphy. Stop in for some hands-on fun!
