Quarry Tour - Sunday

Kids will enjoy this tour of the Halibut Point State Park and Quarry Rokcport MA

Enjoy a guided tour of Halibut Point State Park around the Babson Farm Quarry, unearthing the granite industry era followed by a traditional hand-tool stone splitting demonstration. Halibut Point itself is made of sheets of 440 million year-old granite that now cascade from rocky headlands to the abundant tidal pools below. The panorama encompasses views from Crane Beach in Ipswich to Mount Agamenticus in Maine and the Isles of Shoals off the coast of New Hampshire. This glorious natural landscape is breathtaking and inspiring.

Spring Book Sale at RPL - Sunday

The Rockport Library Book Sale is a fundraiser for RPL programs!

The Friends of the Rockport Library invite you to their spring book sale! Enjoy a bake sale and shop for hard back and paperback books, children’s books, books on tape, videos, and DVDs. All proceeds are used to help support programs at the library like the Cabin Fever Movies, the Authors Series, Museum passes, and Children’s programs.

Jupiter String Quartet at Shalin Liu

The Jupiter String Quartet plays the Shalin Liu Center in Rockport Massachusetts

The Jupiter String Quartet is a particularly intimate group, consisting of violinists Nelson Lee and Megan Freivogel, violist Liz Freivogel (older sister of Meg), and cellist Daniel McDonough (husband of Meg, brother-in-law of Liz). The quartet chose its name because Jupiter was the most prominent planet in the night sky at the time of its formation, and the astrological symbol for Jupiter resembles the number four.

The Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestra will perform FREE at the Shalin Liu

Under the musical direction of Gerald Dolan, Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras offers ensemble experience to young musicians from more than 40 North Shore, Merrimack Valley, Southern New Hampshire, and Southern Maine communities. Jessica Kagle, founder of Kestrel Educational Adventures, has entered the Green Awards contest on behalf of Rockport Elementary School for an award of $25,000 that will put them on the road to designing and building a nature center in the school's new science room.
