Glen Urquhart School is launching a new energy initiative with the installation of solar panels that will dramatically reduce its overall energy usage.
Glen Urquhart is one of the only schools on the North Shore to install such a large solar venture. The new 55-kilowatt system supplied and installed by Solect Solar will provide 36 percent of the schools overall electricity and avoid 105,000 pounds of Co2 emission, which is equivalent to six homes or greenhouse gas emissions from nine cars, and the amount of carbon sequestered annually from ten acres of pine forest.
Deborah Roffman will speak at Glen Urquhart School on Tuesday, May 6 at 7 p.m. Roffman is a nationally acclaimed educator and author of [amazon B0080K3Q6M inline]. She has more than thirty years of experience teaching kids and their parents about human sexuality. Roffman’s frank and vibrant pep talk will give parents the inspiration and tools needed to tackle the subject of sex with their kids.
On Wednesday, May 7, from 8:45 to 10:30, families of students entering Nursery and Kindergarten are invited to Cape Ann Waldorf School to learn more about Waldorf education. Parents and children can speak with teachers, parents and students, and experience for themselves some of the activities that enliven a Waldorf classroom.
