Creatures of the Deep sea are the subject of the next Imagine, Sing and Learn!

These fun-filled morning programs are perfect for you and your active preschooler! Our structured activities include hands-on science, music and movement, a thematic snack, and an outdoor adventure if the weather complies. Keep learning with coloring pages and follow-up activities to continue the fun at home! This week we'll focus on life in the deep sea and the special creatures that live there!

Enjoy a guided walk along the river to view this beautiful area of the park, and learn about the natural, cultural and historical content of this location.  J.G. Whittier’s famous poem “The Laurels” will be highlighted during the walk. Comfortable walking shoes, water and sunscreen are recommended. For: All Ages. May the 4th is commonly known as Star Wars Day. This year, Newburyport Youth Services is excited to announce that we will be holding our 2nd Annual Star Wars party from 6:00-8:30pm. Families and kids of all ages are invited to join us for some or all of this “out of this world” event. Whether with the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire… all are welcome.

The Greater Newburyport Children’s Chorus will be taking over the Firehouse Stage for one spectacular night featuring showtunes from well-loved and new Broadway shows!  The evening will feature ensemble performances by our 2 choirs, the GNCC and the GNCC Juniors, along with some featured soloists, duets and small ensembles. Some of the songs scheduled for the evening include a rousing rendition of “Consider Yourself” from Oliver! and a poignant version of “Waving through a Window” from the Grammy winning new musical Dear Evan Hansen.

Methuen Ballet Ensemble will present their interpretation of Sleeping Beauty, a tale of a young princess who cucceumbs to black magic, and the prince who saved her. As the ballet begins, the baby Princess Aurora has just been christened and the King and Queen have declared a grand celebration. Six fairies have been invited to the celebration to bestow gifts of virtue upon the child. The evil Carabosse, furious that she was not invited to the celebration, storms in and curses the baby!

Joppa Flats Education Center helps families beat the blahs and keep minds active and hands busy during school break! Head out into the wild with kids and families for great outdoor explorations this April vacation. For families with children ages 3 and up, School and Youth Education Coordinator Lisa Hutchings heads a program where kids will to learn all about the "nursery of the sea" with our salt marsh science stations including live minnow ID, salinity experiments, and a chance to meet some of the live inhabitants of the salt marsh.
