Twelfth Annual Fairy House Tour

The Friends of the South End Portsmouth Fairy House Tour--the world's largest fairy house tour

The Friends of the South End Portsmouth Fairy House Tour--the world's largest fairy house tour--takes place each fall in the historic South End Neighborhood of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Built by creative professionals, community members, and students, these works of imagination and creativity more than 150 fairy houses will be on display on the grounds of Strawbery Banke, the Governor John Langdon House, and in Prescott Park.

A period playhouse, general store, variety of blocks, doll house, musical instruments and more help history come to life for children of all ages. Hands on exploration is a fundamental concept at Wenham Museum. Family Terrarium Workshop at PEM

Peabody Essex Museum hosts a free terrarium workshop for Trails and Sails 2016!

Get your hands dirty while learning about plants and mini habitats in this terrarium workshop. A member of the Niche Urban Garden Supply team will be on hand to guide you through the process as you design a one-of-a-kind terrarium to take home. Come early or stay late to enjoy the exhibition Sizing it Up: Scale in Nature and Art, where you can also check out Vaughn Bell’s mega-terrarium -- Metropolis before the exhibition closes on September 19th.

Themes will change each week, but each Whipple Wednesday will include a hands-on activity and Colonial games.

There will also be a special gift-making activity for children who visit on Father’s Day to make a present for the special guy in their lives. This activity is included with paid admission (and free for Children’s Museum members.

Wenham Museum is proud to be part of the Free Fun Fridays Program created by the Highland Street Foundation to further the goal of increasing access to culture, the arts, an education for people of all ages.

Come to the museum on Friday, July 1, 2016 and enjoy the museum's galleries featuring Wheels: Getting from Here to There, antique toys, dolls, dollhouses, 10 operating model train layouts, historic photographs and textiles. Tours of the museum's 17th-century Claflin-Gerrish-Richard's House will also be available at designated times. Experience the history of childhood with old-fashioned games on the lawn.
