The ECTA Pan Ipswich Challenge is a ~20 mile walk or run fundraiser from the west end of Ipswich (Hood Pond) to the coast (Steep Hill Beach) that will highlight some of the best trails and open lands on the North Shore! Participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of $100 through pledges with the proceeds going to the ECTA.
Tonight, Monday, April 2nd at 7 p.m., Dr. Wendy Mogel will be at Brookwood School to discuss how parents can raise self-reliant, less defiant, optimistic children in a nervous world. Her talk, part of Brookwood School’s 4 to 14 Speaker Series: Parenting Elementary School Kids, will be followed by a question and answer session and a book signing.

Belaying refers to a variety of techniques used in climbing to exert friction on a climbing rope to ensure the safety of the climber and to ensure that a falling climber does not fall very far. If you have a child interested in rock climbing and find yourself nervously watching as your child climbs, take this course! It will enable you to become the belayer and you will be able to identify unsafe belaying proceedures when somebody else is holding the rope!

Pathways for Children invites you to their workshop 'The Power of Reading' in Gloucester. The focus will be on what to do to engage your child in reading and how to keep them interested. The workshop will include; the “Do’s and Don’ts" to remember when reading aloud, how to choose a great read aloud book, answers to questions parents often ask and much more.
In this course, you will learn how to properly identify and care for breathing, choking, and cardiac emergencies with infants and children through the age of eight. Infant and child CPR is indispensable for parents, babysitters, teachers, program staff, and anyone else who is in frequent contact with infants and small children. Participants will become certified in Pediatric CPR through the National Safety Council for two years.
This time of year is great for reviewing the past year and planning for the next. People will be making resolutions to improve something about themselves whether it be in mind, body or spirit, and Gloucester Uechi Karate Academy is offering an opportunity that will cover all three! Don't miss a special exhibit beginning with a lecture in honor of National Recycling Day. Jessica Kagle, founder of Kestrel Educational Adventures, has entered the Green Awards contest on behalf of Rockport Elementary School for an award of $25,000 that will put them on the road to designing and building a nature center in the school's new science room. You can vote once every day, and every vote increases the odds that this money will be awarded for this purpose.
