Family Campout: Tracks and Scat

Explore the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary after hours and join us for a night of camping under the stars. Have an early dinner at home, and then come with your family and your tent. We will explore nature through games and hands-on activities, set up our tents near the Barn before sundown, and tell stories after the sun sets. All campouts include an evening and a morning activity or hike and a light breakfast.

Take a twilight walk at Maudslay State Park in Newburyport Massachusetts!

NPL offers a free showing of Avengers: Infinity War in advance of the new Avengers Movie

When a new movie in a series or a remake comes out, count on us to help you catch up! "Avengers: Endgame" is in theaters April 26th, so the library will be screening "Avengers: Infinity War" (PG-13) starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, and Mark Ruffalo. Run time: 2 hours 29 minutes.

Babysitters Course at NPL

Newburyport Public Library offers a babysitting course for kids in grades 6-12!

Kids in Grades 6-12 are invited to NPL for babysitter training! Would you like to learn babysitting skills? If you are 11-18 years old come and attend our 4-H Babsitters Course! Participants will come to understand the responsibilities of babysitting and learn the skills needed to become good babysitters. Teens will develop confidence in handling situations they may encounter when babysitting. Upon completion of this course, you will receive a Babysitter’s ID card and a certificate of completion.

Whale Alert!: Meet the Author

Whale Alert! author Angela Kakabeeke at Abbott Library in Marblehead

Join the effort to protect our endangered right whale. Hear local children’s author Angela Kakabeeke share her new book, Whale Alert!, about the critically endangered North Atlantic right whale. Angela is excited to work with Women Working for Oceans (W2O) and the New England Aquarium in sharing this story. In addition to the reading, there will be educational hands-on activities for children and adults, including whale science kits that reveal the unique characteristics of the right whale and the hazards that they encounter in our blue backyard.

Wildwood Camp

Mass Audubon's Camp Wildwood in Rindge NH offers a wide variety of overnight programs for kids, teens and families!

Wildwood is a multidimensional summer program for young people ages 9 to 17 focusing on active exploration of the natural world. Wildwood also offers a special 3-day mini-camp for ages 7-8, and a family camp offering safe, quiet and natural settings for a unique family experience. IMADA is offering students an array of Summer programs focusing on the arts. The Music Asylum offers an annual Summer Songwriting Session. Learn the art of lyric writing, prosody, chord structures, harmony, song form, rhythm and groove.
