Yankee Homecoming Bed Race
The Newbuyrport Yankee Homecoming Bed Race is an annual event in Newburyport hosted by the Lions Club of Newburyport. The race is a ¼ mile team sprint down Federal Street to the finish line. Each team consists of 3 pushers, 2 pullers and a 'sleeper', and the goal is to get to the finish line with the bed and sleeper in the fastest time! This is a fun event for the community and always draws a big crowd. Come cheer on your favorite team, or just watch the fun! Funds raised will go to Lions Club charities.

Newburyport Yankee Homecoming Kid's Day in the Park in hosted by the Newburyport Exchange Club. This free event starts with a parade for decorated bikes and doll carriages, with prizes for the best ones! After that, kids can get their faces painted, experience Theater in the Open, relax with a story organized by the Newburyport Library, participate in a sing-alongs, and watch a police department K9 demonstration. There will also be free food and drinks available starting at noon. Please stop by and join the fun!

Now in its 31st year, this one mile road race, occurring during Newburyport's Historic Yankee Homecoming Festival. It features multiple races including a children's heat with medals for all the little finishers! Cash prizes for overall and age group winners! There will be snacks and beverages at the finish line and beer tickets for a free beer and post race viewing party at the Winner's Circle Sport's Bar post race! The Coast Guard Station in Newburyport stands as a testament to over 100 years of service to the opening of the Merrimack River and the coastal regions from the North Shore to Portsmouth, NH. Join us as we honor the men and women who serve our City at the U.S. Coast Guard Station on the Merrimack River. The station will be open to the public on Thursday August 1st from 10:00am – 2:00pm giving tours and providing life saving techniques while discussing the hazards of the Merrimack River entrance.
