Lowell's Boat Shop: Boatbuilding in the New Nation

Step back in time with a visit to Lowell’s Boat Shop in Amesbury Massachusetts during Trails & Sails! Established in 1793, Lowell’s was one of The New Nation’s many boat shops, and is the oldest continuously operating boat shop in the country. Simeon Lowell founded his own business after working as a shipwright in the area; he and other Lowell family shipwrights participated in the build of The Alliance, one of the first frigates built for the Revolutionary Navy.

The St. Peter's Fiesta in Gloucester, MA tradtionally hosts the Women's Seine Boat Races on Friday of the Festival

The Saint Peter's Fiesta is an annual festival in Gloucester, Massachusetts celebrating the city's fishing heritage, close-knit families, community, and religious traditions. The five-day celebration includes a carnival, live entertainment, and unique traditional events like the infamous 'Greasy Pole' contest and classic seine boat races. The festival is proudly sponsored by the Italian-American fishing community of Gloucester, and has all kinds of family-oriented activities and events, making it a great early Summer destination weekend event.

Merrimack Valley Ship Model Show

The Merrimack Valley Ship Model club will exhibit a wide range and variety of ship models displaying tiny miniatures, and modest rowing craft in contrast with ocean going vessels. Model Ship Show

Hundreds of models ships of all types will be on display in downtown Peabody! There will be all types, made from wood, plastic paper and miscellaneous media and created by hobbyists and professionals from the Greater Boston area. Many of these models are incredibly detailed works of art worthy of museum display. Come see these wonderful pieces and meet the people who make them!
