Sprouting Melodies Music Program at Newbury Town Library

Sponsored by the Friends as well as by a grant from the Newbury Cultural Council, Family Sprouts Music Program gathers kids and families together here at the Newbury Town Library, and provides opportunities for children of different ages to learn and interact with each other. Each session includes active music making designed to elicit different responses from the children based on their cognitive, social and physical skills. Family Sprouts is for children under five and is perfect for families with more than one child. Online Registration Required as Space is limited

Revolutionary War Encampment: Escape from Boston

Escape from Boston Revolutionary War Reenactment - Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm - The Acton Minutemen - His Majesty's 10th Regiment of Foot in America

The Escape from Boston Revolutionary War Reenactment is a weekend encampment and battle scenario that plays out this “what-if” scenario that might have changed the course of the American Revolution. Meet Revolutionary War soldiers from both sides of the conflict. Members of the Continental Line and His Majesty's First Regiment of Foot Guards re-enact a retreat from Boston with cannon, cavalry, and drills throughout the day. Come watch the colonial forces battle with the British Redcoats at the Escape from Boston Revolutionary War Reenactment to determine our destiny as a nation.

The Secret Life of Pets at Newbury Town Library

Come to Newbury Town Library for a free showing of Illumination's 'The Secret Life of Pets'!

The Newbury Town Library invites kids to a showing of Illumination's 'The Secret Life of Pets' as the half-day movie for town kids. A Jack Russell Terrier named Max lives with his owner Katie in a Manhattan apartment. While she is at work during the day, he hangs out with other pets in the building: tabby cat Chloe, pug Mel, dachshund Buddy, and budgerigar Sweetpea. One day, Katie adopts Duke, a large and shaggy mongrel from the pound, leaving Max jealous because of her divided attention between him and Duke. Enraged by Max's attitude towards him, Duke tries to abandon Max in an alley, but they are both attacked by a gang of alley cats led by Sphynx cat Ozone. The cats remove both dogs' collars and leave them to be caught by Animal Control. Hilartiy ensues, and we lear a little about the way pets live their lives while we are all attending to other matters.

Based on Rudyard Kipling's timeless stories and inspired by Disney's classic animated film, The Jungle Book is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli, a man-cub who's been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan , who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. before Moglis family, a pack of wolves, can decide what to do with him, Mowgli voluntarily leaves the jungle on his own accord in search of man for the safety of his pack.  Along the way Mowgli meets many characters and has many adventures.  Join the fun in the retelling of this classic tale!.

Tide Pool Explorers at Sandy Point

Low tide is the perfect time for tide pooling at Sandy Point Reservation!

Join the Interpreter too explore the tide pools at SSandy Point! We will be looking at ddifferent organisms that inhhabit the pools such as crabs, sand dollars, starfish, periwwinkles, and many more! Meet at the first parking lot near thee beach entrance. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Parking at Sandy Pooint is limited. Stargazing at Newbury Town Library

Teens are invited to the Newbury Town Library for a Star Party Hosted by the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club!

The Newbury Town Library will host the [node: 1306] for a Star Gazing Party! They will be giving a short presentation in advance and then attendees may view the stars through large telescopes placed outside. If you have never attended a Star Party, then don't miss out on this. It's incredible how much you can see through a telescope.
