Join Salem Coastwatch for a special marine exploration of Salem Sound and its many aquatic gifts. This session wiil focus on how people in Salem Massachusetts have interacted with the gifts from the sealfor time immemorial. We will follow up with a hands-on, take-home craft. Calling all budding naturalists! Take inspiration from the beautiful landscape at Crane Estates and join us for a special session of creativity and observation. Families will create nature journals using a book-binding technique demonstrated by our coastal educators. Afterwards, participants will hike to inspiring parts of the estate where they can draw and document observations in their newly created journals. Our coastal educators will lead everyone through observational exercises and offer guidance as you make your first journal entry.
Join Pastry Chef Sam Burns to delve into the world of honeybees and the various pastries and desserts that are made possible with the honey they produce. With over ten years of beekeeping experience, we will discuss the general practices of keeping bees in our northern climate and the process of harvesting honey from production hives.
The Lynch Van Otterloo YMCA in Marblehead Massachusetts will host a Trunk or Treat and we need your help! The Y is looking for volunteers to display their trunk idea/theme for Friday 10/27 from 4:30-6:30pm. Set up begins at 3:30.
A critical element of the Marblehead community needs our support. Piper field, a multi-purpose turf field at MHS, is utilized by organizations well beyond MHS Athletics. It is a staple for graduation ceremonies, the Marblehead Band, High School and Youth Soccer, Lacrosse, Cheer, Football, Field Hockey, Flag Football, Adult Men’s Soccer, Unified Athletics, student gatherings, camps, and more.
FREE FAMILY EVENT! Join in on the fun and decorate your trunk, wear a costume, and hand out candy or prizes. Winner of the best trunk will receive a special prize. Please join us for the fifth annual Run for Amy Memorial Trail Race, on September 23rd, 2023 through beautiful Appleton Farms in Ipswich, MA. The race, in memory of Amy DiAdamo Foster, is meant to celebrate her life through embracing her passions of both running and spending time outdoors. Equally as important to Amy was the opportunity to gather friends and host a great party so don’t plan on leaving after your race, as music, food and libations are part of the festivities! Kids are encouraged to join into the fun and the race, there will be prizes for the top kid finishers in each of the 5K and 10K
To encourage time in nature, familiarity with the natural world, and a time for parents and children to get together outdoors, our popular infant/toddler stroller walks will return at Appleton Farms. These hour long walks will be on Tuesdays from 9-10am. Come to one or all of the sessions and explore the farmyard, fields, and forest, and imagine hidden worlds beneath our feet and above our heads. Children and their care-givers will have the opportunity to take in fresh air, be with other families, and walk diverse trails on the farm. This is a great time to socialize with other parents and get your kids in nature, unwind and relax at the farm!
