Free Family Movement & Art at CAM Green

This summer, stretch, jump, and move your body on the lawn of the Cape Ann Museum Green with instructors from MAGMA. After the workshop, grab some free art supplies from CAM’s Art Cart or try your hand at a self-portrait for Community Portrait Project. Make a day out of it by bringing your lunch and picnicking on the Green while you make art!
Maker Lounge Opening Day at PEM

Peabody Essex Museum is excited to have families come see their new space at the museum designed just for innovation! The Maker Lounge is dedicated to creativity and innovation through hands-on exploration with technology, materials and ideas. It builds on PEM's tradition of bringing together new and inspiring objects from around the world and celebrating creative expression through human ingenuity. Tackle a design challenge or tinker with all kinds of materials from circuits to cardboard saws. Both energizing and relaxing, the space has music, iPads and universal phone chargers.
Make It or Break It Club

The Children's Museum of New Hampshire hosts the Make or Break it Club every Friday from 3:00-4:45 pm. Kids ages 6-12 are invited to drop in to try their hand at a variety of hands-on "making" experiences, using real tools and materials. No reservations are required and different experiences are offered each week. The cost is $8 per session for museum members and $10 for non-members. Multi-session punch cards are also available for kids who want to come each week.
Making Cool Stuff at ATHM

The American Textile History Museum in Lowell is having a free, educational and fun experience for adults and kids, celebrating the intersection of invention and creativity! In collaboration with our two new special exhibits, “Inventing Lowell” and “Flowers in the Factory,” on view through June 22.
FREE Night at the Museum

Grab your pajamas and join us for a Night at the Lynn Museum! Enjoy a live animal demonstration, dinosaur crafts, and a showing of the movie. A Night at the Museum” with complimentary snacks for the kids. Be on the lookout for some of our surprise guests! Conveniently scheduled during February vacation week, this is one dino-riffic event you do not want to miss!
Fall Festival at White-Ellery House

The historic White-Ellery House will serve as the backdrop for the Cape Ann Museum’s fall festival. Historic demonstrations include decoy carving with Bob Brophy; needlepoint design with Carol Karlson; traditional rug making with Rose Ann Hunter; hand woven design with Sara Wright; and wool spinning with Leslie Wind. Children will have a chance to try their hand at making spoon dolls and other traditional toys and games.
Art in the Shipyard!

See, learn, find, create! Young artists are invited to enjoy drawing, painting, print making, and sculpture using the Museum's shipyard and artifacts for inspiration. All materials are provided for projects. All ages are welcome. Those seven and younger must be accompanied by an adult. A public exhibit of the art work produced will take place at the museum. This program is supported in part by the Essex Cultural Council, a local agency, through the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
Wrap It Up at PEM

Drop-in for our yearly holiday wrapping paper workshop. This year we will be joined by Regina from the Boston Paper Collective as we learn Suminagashi, the ancient Japanese art of paper marbling. Make your own Suminagshi paper and see some examples of Ebru (Turkish paper marbling) as show above.
Slow Art Day Sketching

Slow Art Day is a worldwide celebration of art that encourages people to look at art SLOWLY. At PEM the goal is to get "inspired not tired." We'll give families fun suggestions and sketching activities to make looking at art slowly a great sharing experience.
