The Gloucester Area Astronomy Club hosts the monthly meeting in Lanesville, North of Gloucester Massachusetts! We haven’t seen the usual summer planets in our evening skies yet this year, but Jupiter and Saturn rise earlier every night, and along with Uranus they’ll be visible during more convenient evening hours this fall.
The Gloucester Schooner Festival is a wonderful celebration of Gloucester's fishing and maritime history during labor day weekend. This year's festival, hosted by Maritime Gloucester, is Gloucester’s major marine event, with participating vessels coming from ports along the Eastern seaboard and beyond. There will be both large and small vessels—ranging from 19 feet to over 100 feet in length. You will see new boats and old boats, from newly built (Ardelle - launched 2011) to over 100 years old!
Following the Gloucester Schooner Festival's Parade of lights in Gloucester Harbor, A fireworks display will light up the sky over Gloucester Harbor to celebrate a great day of maritime history and tradition. Good vantage points for viewing fireworks include Gloucester's Boulevard, Stage Fort Park, Pavilion Beach
Come enjoy a Summer evening sea-side concert at Stage Fort Park in Gloucester Massachusetts! The weekly Thursday night concerts will be held at Stage Fort Park’s Antonio Gentile Bandstand Starting at 7pm during July and 6:30pm in August. Check out the 2023 program line-up:
United States Coast Guard Station Gloucester is having an open house and safe boating day! Stop by and learn all about the Coast Guard and its important role in Gloucester. The United States Coast Guard Station Gloucester annual Safe Boating Day Open House will feature local marine vendors, safe boating displays, flare demonstrations, tours of Coast Guard vessels, and more. Free to the public. Recreational boaters, commercial boaters, loads of fun for the kids!

Come to Maritime Gloucester and discover what lives near the bottom of the oceanic food chain using digital microscopes! Does the term plankton define a certain species? No! It is a term used to describe the enormous biomass of microscopic sea creatures ranging from nascent shrimp, fish and jelly fish to the tiny frye of lobster and squid.Utilizing our redesigned plankton lab, participants will learn about plankton’s role in the marine ecosystem.
As part of COASTSWEEP Beach Cleanup, volunteers are encouraged to come to Stage Fort Park to help in the statewide effort to keep our coastline clean along the shore in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Trash collected will be measured and analyzed, and the data will be sent to Washington DC to aid the government in creating legislation to minimize trash in our oceans!

Trash collected will be measured and analyzed, and the data will be sent to Washington DC to aid the government in creating legislation to minimize trash in our oceans! This specific cleanup is coordinated by Seaside Sustainability.

Farmer's markets aren't just a place to get your favorite local seasonal foods, it s a community! The markets vary from town to town, and in addtion to the farm goods, you'll enjoy live music, craft and other vendors, and some even have activities to keep the kids busy while you shop!
