The Topsfield Fair is a perennial favorite for us. We're not the biggest fans of the midway, although it is always worth a walkthrough and a ride or two. We love fruits and vegetables, and are always on the lookout for the winning 'biggest pumpkin'. Another favorite is checking out the pigs and other farm animals, as well as the interesting variety of guinea pigs and rabbits.

This 50-minute free hands-on Healthy Smoothie Class provides children 8+ years old the opportunity to make a delicious and nutritious smoothies using local fruits, yogurt and 100% juices. Participants will learn about nutrition and the positive impact of eating healthy and local. Parents are asked to stay at the store for the duration of the class. This class meets at the Whole Food Market location in Andover Massachusetts.
Celebrate our Earth, farming, and delicious food with this fun hands-on planting and cooking experience! We’ll start in the teaching kitchen and get cooking. Kids will practice basic measuring and knife skills as we work together to whip up a tasty farm frittata with our own eggs. While our creation cooks kids will plant their own mini herb garden to take home. Learn about what plants need to survive and see what were planting in our own kitchen garden. Afterwards we’ll enjoy our snack together! Recommended for ages 6-10 but all are welcome! An adult must attend but there is no additional charge. Pre-registration is required. This program meets in the farm kitchen.
The fourth annual Grow Spring! Expo, a celebration of local agriculture, horticulture, and environmental preservation, returns to Topsfield on March 18, 10 AM - 3 PM. Held at the Emerson Center, the Gould Barn, and The Commons, this year’s event is sponsored by the Topsfield Garden Club, the Topsfield Historical Society, The Commons, The Congregational Church of Topsfield and the Essex Agricultural Society.
Our cheese making classes are back! Join Appleton’s own award-winning cheese maker, Kristian Holbrook, for a hands-on cheese making class in our farm kitchen. You’ll learn all the basics of cheese making, make your own mozzarella and ricotta to take home, and get a behind-the-scenes tour of our dairy operation and cheese cave. Pre-registration required.
Visit Lowell’s Boat Shop during their Annual Holiday Open House is a two day family event during the first weekend in December. On the main shop level, guests can enjoy a silent auction as well as a retail display featuring the shop's traditional hand crafted items as well as our seasonal merchandise.

Join American Girl™ for a pasta workshop! We’ll show you how to cut out ravioli using a cool tool called a ravioli plaque, and together we’ll cook a yummy sauce for our pasta. Then mangia (“eat”)! Join Appleton Farms for the first Down on the Farm Fall Concert Series at Appleton Farms in the Stone Paddock! These family-friendly concerts will feature live music, food trucks, lawn games, and an opportunity to meet our dairy cows and farm animals. The series kicks off on Sunday, October 9th at 4pm. Bring your own picnic or purchase food from a selection of food trucks. Beer and wine will be available for purchase with Ipswich Ale, Old Planters Brewing, and Mill River Winery. Gates open at 4pm and concert starts at 5pm. Leaf-peeping and family photo opportunities among the foliage in our historic Stone Paddock a bonus!
