Maritime Gloucester invites kids in pre-k through first grade to a vacation week session about marine skeletons - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! What supports a fish, whale, or sea turtle as it swims through the ocean?  Its skeleton!  We will learn all about the skeletons of sea creatures working with some fun pasta shapes. Kids will create their own sea creature skeletons to take home!  We’ll learn about more about skeleton sizes by comparing fish and giant whale bones.

Maritime Gloucester invites kids to a vacation week session focused on making art with recyclables - part of a week full of educational sessions during February vacation! Can you transform a water bottle into a fish, or a plastic plate into a sea turtle?  Using a variety of recyclable materials, students will create their own sea creature sculptures to take home.  We’ll look at a vast collection shells, bones, and exoskeletons for inspiration and discuss sea creature adaptations.  As we talk about the importance of recycling, we’ll look at pictures of sea creature art made from recycled materials, such as marine debris and water bottles.

The super talented and uber funny E.S. Redmond will be visiting The Newbury Town Library to read from her newest book, "The Unruly Queen." Ms. Redmond will also lead us in a craft and be available to sign copies of her books, which will be on sale at the library, courtesy of Jabberwocky Books. The event is FREE! Please call to register!
