Girls Day, offered twice a year and sponsored by MIT Museum, celebrates women who are exploring, researching, and innovating in fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Meet amazing women in these fields while doing fun hands-on activities. This family-friendly event is recommended for girls 10 and up, but all are welcome. Our theme this time is “Express Yourself with Science” and will highlight women whose work combines science and the arts.
House of Seven Gables hosts a Trails & Sails tour that focuses on the gardens and grounds! Join us for our newly developed historic grounds tour – one of a series of specialized tours currently in the works at The House of the Seven Gables. Take a stroll through the lesser-known history of our gardens and grounds. Learn about the original layout of the site through archival images and maps, then delve into Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel through his depictions of the fictional Pyncheon gardens.
Join Discover Marblehead and Marblehead Museum for the second annual FALL FAIR in the Lee Mansion Gardens from 10am-2pm featuring local Artists, Music and lawn games for the kids! Stroll the gardens, mingle and shop with featured local artisans and purchase a mini pumpkin kit to support the Marblehead Food Pantry! Free admission. Rain Date October 3rd.
During the summer, enjoy free concerts in the Cape Ann Museum Courtyard at 27 Pleasant Street, Gloucester, on Thursdays from 5:00-7:00 pm. Offered as part of the city-wide Culture Splash, the Courtyard Concerts feature local and regional musicians whose music ranges from salsa to sea shanties, bluegrass to jazz, and reggae to folk.
Join us at the Cape Ann Museum Green for a free screening of the classic Gloucester film, Captains Courageous on Saturday, August 28 in partnership with the Cape Ann Community Cinema. Captains Courageous is a legendary 1937 film about a Portuguese fisherman who rescues the son of a railway tycoon after the boy fell overboard from an ocean liner. Based on Rudyard Kipling’s 1897 novel, the movie was filmed primarily in Gloucester. Photographs from the Museum’s Library & Archives document the filming.
Step back in time on Sunday, July 11 as Hammond Castle Museum is filled with the sounds of traditional medieval, renaissance, and Celtic music from four New England music groups. Performing in and around the Castle, the groups will be performing through out the day. Offsite parking will be available in addition to Museum parking.
Take a break from the screen and come visit the Cape Ann Museum with your kids during April Vacation Week - Meet Cassie at the Cape ann Museum! Reserve a timed entrance for you and your family to follow the Museum's new family-friendly guide, Cassie the Sea Serpent, through the galleries. Inspired by the Cape Ann Sea Serpent, which was seen by hundreds in Gloucester Harbor between 1817-1819, Cassie poses questions and activities for students of all ages to engage with the collection. During April Vacation Week, all visitors will receive a free copy of Cassie’s Scavenger Hunt with activities and crayons included.

Explore activity stations where you can test your color knowhow, make your own Grecian vessel, learn to writeunderwater, construct amazing structures out of LEGO, and more!
