Celebrate the fish city’s recognizably salty character with local cultural institutions and businesses during the 3rd Annual Gloucester’s So Salty festival on January 20 and 21, 2024 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm! Over 1,800 people came out last year to share their salty pride while enjoying free ice sculptures and cultural activities around Downtown Gloucester.
Cool weather Fall running is back! This year the Winner's Circle Running Club has moved our annual 5K to Salisbury! It will be run Thanksgiving morning November 23rd. Registration opens at 7:00 a.m. and the race starts promptly at 8:30. We feature runner and family friendly trails and post race refreshments. Our new course which is primarily on a rail trail offers a fast and flat but scenic course! Pre-register to lock in the lowest rates! Race day registration will be available at $35.

This special outing invites individuals both with and without disabilities to participate in an outdoor adventure. Enjoy connecting with nature and other hikers in a safe and supportive environment.
Calling all budding naturalists! Take inspiration from the beautiful landscape at Crane Estates and join us for a special session of creativity and observation. Families will create nature journals using a book-binding technique demonstrated by our coastal educators. Afterwards, participants will hike to inspiring parts of the estate where they can draw and document observations in their newly created journals. Our coastal educators will lead everyone through observational exercises and offer guidance as you make your first journal entry.
Join us at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary for Flocktober on November 4 from 3:00-6:00PM! Spend the afternoon, outdoors, listening to live music, guided hikes in the foliage, playing a round of cornhole and other lawn games, and viewing birds in their natural habitat. You can get your fill of food from Butter Ur Biscuit food truck and craft beer from Ipswich's True North Brewery. This event is part of Mass Audubon's first ever Flocktober. The Essex Lion's Club hosts the annual turkey trot in beautiful Essex Massachusetts! This year the race is a 5K and a 5k fun walk. Race starts at 11:00am for runners and 10am for walkers. Registration is at Woodman’s Restaurant (upstairs), 121 Main Street, Essex, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, or pre-register online.
