North Shore NMC Breastfeeding and Parenting Group

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding and have questions about nursing your baby or toddler, the Nursing Mothers' Council is a supportive group of women & accredited counselors that can help! NMC helps to make breastfeeding and parenting a more informed and satisfying family experiences by providing ongoing education, emotional support, community service, and advocacy.

Boston Marathon Day at MOS

Learn about the science behind long distance endurance running at MOS

Whether you're running or spectating at the Boston Marathon this year, a visit to Museum of Science will teach you the latest in endurance sports science! The museum has created special exibits and hands-on activities that will allow visitors to explore the science behind long-distance endurance running.  Combined with presentations by special guests, visitors will gain a better understanding the forces experienced by the runner's body, and what training does to minimize their effects.

MDA 24 Hour Muscle Walk Challenge

Help support the MDA by sponsoring a walker at the Muscle Walk in Ipswich!

Join the fun while doing good at the 24 hour-long MDA Muscle Walk Challenge at Ken Spellman Track in Ipswich this this June! One of our friends, Deb LaFrance, will be walking the full 24 hour stint to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, with a goal of $20,000. You can sponsor her, join her team or start a team of your own and compete with other teams to see who raises the most funds! Mayor's Halloween Health Fair

The Mayor's Health Fair has trick or treating and lots of fun activities!

Newburport Mayor Holaday and the City Health Department invite the community to attend the Mayor’s Haunted Health & Wellness Fair and Flu Clinic on Saturday, October 26 from 10 am – 1 pm at City Hall. This year’s Fair offers Halloween Fun with a Healthy Focus. In addition to the FREE Flu Clinic, FREE Health Screening and a variety of informational displays from local health and wellness organizations, there will be a Children’s Costume Parade at 10:30 a.m. and a Costumed-Pet Parade at noon around Brown Square!

Kick-a-Thon to Benefit the MDA

Proceeds from Gloucester Uechi Karate Kick-a-Thon in Gloucester benefit the MDA

Local students at Gloucester Uechi Karate Academy of Gloucester will participate in a Kick-A-Thon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association! Students are collecting sponsorships from friends, family and neighbors, and using their healthy muscles to help others whose muscles are not as strong. The fundraising goal is $10,000, with all proceeds going to benefit the MDA – a non-profit organization servicing over 2000 families in Massachusetts, with more than 600 of those families coming from communities on the North Shore and Merrimack Valley.

Green Meadows Farm invites is hosting a Road Race put on by the NFMA.

You do not have access to view this node is hosting a road/trail race put on by the National Farmers Market Association. Highlights of this event will include a 1 mile race, a fun run and 5k trail/road race. This is not just a race, though. There's plenty of fun stuff to do at the farm that make this a day long celebration for family and friends of the runners with educational demos, music, children activities, celebrity chefs from the greater Boston area, farmers market and the local craft brewer community.

In this course by Family & Friends CPR, you will learn how to properly identify and care for breathing, choking, and cardiac emergencies with infants, children and adults. Infant and child CPR is indispensable for parents, babysitters, teachers, program staff, and anyone else who is in frequent contact with infants and small children. This is a non-certified course and is intended for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a completion card or other certification.
