Gloucester's US Coast Gaurd Station host an open house and boating safety day at their station in downtown Gloucester!

United States Coast Guard Station Gloucester is having an open house and safe boating day! Stop by and learn all about the Coast Guard and its important role in Gloucester. The United States Coast Guard Station Gloucester annual Safe Boating Day Open House will feature local marine vendors, safe boating displays, flare demonstrations, tours of Coast Guard vessels, and more. Free to the public. Recreational boaters, commercial boaters, loads of fun for the kids!

Camp Invention in Ipswich

Kids can explore, create, discover and learn skills that will follow them through their futures at Camp Invention!

Camp Invention will host a session in Ipswich Massachusetts for the week of August 8-12, 2016 from 9am-3:30pm. Camp Invention programs have encouraged nearly two million curious minds to explore, create and invent. The Camp Invention curriculum is new each and every year to ensure that our participants have a dynamic and memorable summer experience. Created by the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Camp Invention is the only nationally recognized summer program focused on creativity, innovation, real-world problem solving and the spirit of invention.

Sheep Shearing and Spinning Workshop at iFarm

Witness a shearing (no sheep will be hurt in the process) and learn to spin wool as 19th century New Englanders did! In this workshop, the group will witness the shearing of the ifarm shetland sheep to create beautiful fleeces. No sheep are harmed during this process, it is like getting a haircut.

The Gloucester Pride Stride is an annual fundraiser walk that helps the non-profits organizations around Cape Ann. Walkers collect sponsorships for their favorite organization, then walk the 5 mile route through downtown Gloucester starting and ending at Stage Fort Park. Join The Trustees and ReVision Energy this spring afternoon to get creative in The Stevens-Coolidge Place gardens. Offering kid-friendly garden experiences in 30 minute intervals, participants will enjoy viewing what spring has sprung with a knowledgeable guide as they meander through the gardens. Each tour will end with participants using the elements of the garden to create solar-powered art. We’ll harness the power of the sun using solar paper and water to create a nature-inspired piece of art. While your new creation dries, take time for a picnic or enjoy a friendly game of giant Jenga or corn hole on the lawn.
