Imagine, Sing, & Learn 4D: Whales Beneath the Waves

Kids can learn about whales at this Imagine Sing and Learn at Joppa Flats!

This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. You'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list via email.  In these sessions we'll explore the wonders of whales and their habitat!

Bees are in trouble and humans can help. Within the past few years, a syndrome has been destroying bee colonies world-wide in a cycle referred to as Colony Collapse Disorder. In 'Queen of the Sun', director Taggart Siegel explores the world of bees and looks for answers to the sudden crisis that is threatening bee populations around the planet. Come to this screening at the Waldorf School at Moraine Farm on the The Trustees of Reservations Moraine Farm to learn more about the bees' plight and Moraine Farm's plan to make a difference for the bees.

In the third annual Free Film Fridays, visitors can experience the giant dome magic -- for free -- every Friday throughout the month: March 2 -30. Geckos are fascinating creatures that kids enjoy learning about at MOS

Enter the world of geckos — bulging eyes, night vision, sticky toepads, squawking voices, and disposable body parts. Geckos can be found all over the planet in climates ranging form rainforests to mountainsides to desert.  Their knack for adaptation has created a specialized species that have uniques tools to ensure their srvival. Come check out more than 60 exotic geckos are coming to the Museum of Science!

Seals live all over the coast of the North Shore. Kids will learn more at Joppa!

An active, fun, program where you and your child will learn about the seals that live at the mouth of the Merrimack River. We will learn about what they eat, how they capture their prey, how they care for their young, and how they survive cold waters of the North Atlantic. We will play some games, sing a song or two, make a fun take-home craft, and enjoy a tasty snack!

Afterschool at Joppa: Winter Session

After School at Joppa Flats allows kids to explore new subjects each week!

The after school program at Joppa Flats Education Center is full of self-guided activities, challenges, or puzzles that lead us to our topic for the day. As a group, we'll observe, investigate, and compare wildlife, their adaptations, and the changes that they undergo in autumn. Participants may play the role of entomologist, ornithologist, astronomer, or even glaciologist throughout this series. Each experience will leave your young naturalist eager for the next session. And we always end with a tasty, thematic treat that the participants make!
