Afterschool at Joppa: Spring Series

After School at Joppa Flats allows kids to explore new subjects each week!

Each after school program session at Joppa Flats Education Center begins with self-guided activities, challenges, or puzzles that lead us to our topic for the day. As a group, we'll observe, investigate, and compare wildlife, their adaptations, and the changes that they undergo in autumn. Participants may play the role of entomologist, ornithologist, astronomer, or even glaciologist throughout this series. Each experience will leave your young naturalist eager for the next session. And we always end with a tasty, thematic treat that the participants make!

Imagine, Sing, & Learn 4D: Whales Beneath the Waves

Kids can learn about whales at this Imagine Sing and Learn at Joppa Flats!

This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. You'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list via email.  In these sessions we'll explore the wonders of whales and their habitat!

This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. MOS Free Film Fridays

Tornado Alley is one of the Omni Films offered for free view Friday March 30

In the third annual Free Film Fridays, visitors can experience the giant dome magic -- for free -- every Friday throughout the month: March 2 -30. We will learn about what they eat, how they capture their prey, how they care for their young, and how they survive cold waters of the North Atlantic. We will play some games, sing a song or two, make a fun take-home craft, and enjoy a tasty snack!
