The ECTA annual ECTAthlon is friendly relay competition held at Bradley Palmer State Park in Topsfield and Hamilton and on private trails in Ipswich where teams or individuals compete in running, mountain biking, horseback riding and kayaking events. This unique event, which will be held on Saturday, June 4th, was envisioned as a way to bring diverse trail users together in a fun and exciting way, and to highlight the incredible network of trails in our area. The June 4th date also coincides with American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day, a series of nationwide events celebrating trails and trail access.
Come to Beverly to race for a great cause! All race proceeds will be used by The Running Well Ministry at Calvary Christian Church to build another well in Africa in 2016. The cost to build a well is over $10,000. One well can make the quality of life so much better for hundreds of children and adults, many of whom must spend hours daily to procure potable water. The Fast Chicks 5k is a Hamilton-Wenham Mother's Club sponsored community fundraiser race that celebrates active women and raises funds for a selected charity each year. There's also a FREE kids race - a 100 yard dash! Now in it's third year, the race begins and ends at Patton park and funds raise this year will go to the Wellspring House, a North Shore organization based in Gloucester that empowers individuals and families to live more secure lives through basic needs assistance, education and job training.
Whether you're running or spectating at the Boston Marathon this year, a visit to Museum of Science will teach you the latest in endurance sports science! The museum has created special exibits and hands-on activities that will allow visitors to explore the science behind long-distance endurance running. Combined with presentations by special guests, visitors will gain a better understanding the forces experienced by the runner's body, and what training does to minimize their effects.
In 2013, a group of local moms, in partnership with the Winner’s Circle Running Club organized this running/walking event to support the One Fund and the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Last year this event raised $15,000 for the One Fund … let’s do it again! If you are a runner/walker, sign up now to support the cause. There's a special Kids Run at 10am followed by the Charity Run at 10:30am. Event day registration starts at 8:30 AM at Cashman Park.
The The Trustees of Reservations, in partnership with New England Barefoot Runners, invite the public to participate in their first annual Piping Plover 5K run at Castle Hill on the Crane Estate in Ipswich! Runners of all ages are welcome, barefoot optional, to race along the shoreline at low tide. All proceeds support The Trustees of Reservations and the shorebird monitoring program at Crane Beach. Come run for fun and help the shorebirds of the North Shore!
You do not have access to view this node is hosting a road/trail race put on by the National Farmers Market Association. Highlights of this event will include a 1 mile race, a fun run and 5k trail/road race. This is not just a race, though. There's plenty of fun stuff to do at the farm that make this a day long celebration for family and friends of the runners with educational demos, music, children activities, celebrity chefs from the greater Boston area, farmers market and the local craft brewer community.
Join the New England Sled Dog Club for their 2013 Dog Sled Races at Appleton Farms! This outdoor event will be host to many dog sled teams that will race from Appleton Farms south into Hamilton and back. This is a great outdoor activity for the family to enjoy some fresh air as they witness a unique sport in a wonderful natural setting. There are many areas for spectating and these races so come early and to find the perfect spot for watching!
