Come to the Middle Street Harvest Festival for live music, museum tours, the Thanksgiving Cape Ann Farmers Market, a craft fair and chowder luncheon, story time and crafts for the kids, tours of the Gloucester Fire Station and more! A benefit concert will take place to raise funds for the Grace Center at Trinity Congregational Church of Gloucester. A representative from the Pentucket chapter of Thom Child and Family Services will visit the library to talk about Early Intervention services for children ages birth to three with developmental difficulties or those who are at risk for them. Early Intervention is a State and Federally mandated service: there are no out-of-pocket costs to families for early intervention services.
Learn about the history of the Barlet Mall, including information on Victorian era landscape architect Charles Eliot, the significance of the George Washington statue, the oldest functioning courthouse in the nation, how rope was made at the Mall, and a World War I memorial to a native son. Newburyport Preservation Trust, Historic New England, the Old Museum of Newbury, and others will be on hand to share their knowledge.
The Custom House is celebrating Essex National Heritage Area’sTrails & Sails on Saturday, with a Revolutionary War Militia Muster on the back green. This reenactment event will highlight Newburyport’s role in the American Revolution. Visit our back lawn to see Captain John Wood’s Company, Colonel Gerrish’s 25th Regiment of the Massachusetts Grand Army. The group will interpret a unit that was raised in Newbury, Massachusetts in 1775, as well as Virginia riflemen who stopped in Newburyport on their way to Arnold’s Expedition to Canada.

During the summer, enjoy free concerts in the Cape Ann Museum Courtyard at 27 Pleasant Street, Gloucester, on Thursdays from 5:00-7:00 pm. Offered as part of the city-wide Culture Splash, the Courtyard Concerts feature local and regional musicians whose music ranges from salsa to sea shanties, bluegrass to jazz, and reggae to folk.

The world renowned rock guitarist’s first break came in 1987 when Ozzy Osbourne liked Hoey’s tape enough to fly him to LA for an audition and encouraging him to move to the West Coast.
