This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. When it's time to go home, you'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list via email.
'Let's Go Fishing' is a Free Fun Family Day at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge! This day log Family Event introduces kids and families to the world of fish and recreational fishing through fun hands-on activities and instruction. There will be a morning and afternoon session, making this a full day outing, so it's recommended that you pack a lunch and be ready to be outside all day!
Late spring is a great time to experience on-the-water ecology, and kayaking is the perfect way to capture every moment. From wading birds to waterfowl, the salt marshes provide the backdrop to sights and sounds that are uniquely available from the water. Kayaking quietly on the calm waters of the Plum Island Sound, we'll visit secluded areas where we can witness wildlife without disturbing their activities. We may even see horseshoe crabs mating!
Join The Trustees and Essex River Basin Adventures for a guided kayak paddle of the Crane Wildlife Refuge. During this specialty paddle, we will set off by boat in search of migrating horseshoe crabs in Essex Bay. Price includes kayak rental and equipment, tour guides, and launch fees. Pathways for Children invites you for 2 FREE excitement packed performances by Magician Greg McAdams. The first show is for preschool aged kids from 10:00AM to 10:45AM. The second show is for elementary aged kids with an anti-bullying theme from 11:15AM to Noon.

Kids will hear a story, then use clay to sculpt a character from the book! Hear the story "[amazon 978-0531070796 inline]" by Ursula LeGuin where a boy is rescued by his sister after being captured by trolls. After the story, local artist, storyteller and teacher Ann McCrea will help kids use modeling clay to sculpt a troll!
Kids are invited to tthe Cape Ann Museum for two-hour "hands-on" class, where students will use a variety of artistic media to explore a central theme. During this open studio, kids will focus on the art of sculpture. This program is free and open to the public.
Learn about New England's amazing marine life! Northeastern University Marine Science Center sessions for Sea Tots feature a particular animal or topic, with opportunities for kids to get up-close-and-personal with live critters. Also included are hands-on games or crafts based on the week's topic.
