Come to the museum to join volunteers from Newhall Fields for a very special planting program. Kids will get a chance to plant seeds, learn more about the anatomy of seeds and plants, color, and dress up. This program is drop in from 1-3PM, and included with your admission to the 12-2PM or 2-4PM play session.
Join in on Sundays at 2:30 for STEAM Club for ages 5-11. May’s theme is Farms, and each week participants will explore science and arts through hands-on projects and experiments. The Festival by the Sea is an annual event hosted by the Manchester Division of the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, this all-day extravaganza taps into the long-line of local talent with musical and artistic performers alike. Festival by the Sea is a celebration of the things that are synonymous with Cape Ann in the summertime: Art, Music & Food ! Booths will be spread throughout downtown Manchester and Masconomo Park. Your senses will be inspired by the beautiful art, extraordinary live music and the aromas of delicious, local foods.
Portraits In Silhouette is the combined expertise of silhouette artists and mother-daughter team, Jean Comerford and Marcella Comerford-Foley. Portraits In Silhouette is focused on bringing you original, personalized work, full of inventive detail and creative spark. The silhouettes are never produced with a digital program copied, or traced. You can expect a genuine, hand-cut, and individual portrait each time, with consideration for the subject’s character and those great details – capturing “what makes them who they are.” Whether that is a signature hairstyle, a cowlick, the way they hold their mouth, a bowtie, or glasses, we love to bring out the personality in our portraits. Children of all ages including wigglers are welcome!

The beach is much more than just sand! In this family education program, participants will learn about the diverse habitats of the sandy beach and dunes. Learners discover shells, seaweed, plants, animal tracks, and other signs of life on the beach and in the dunes, get an up-close look at sand to explore its composition and how it formed, and use scientific tools to measure the ever-changing shape of the beach. Learn how The Trustees are managing and protecting our ever-changing coast, and how you can play a role!

Here in Massachusetts we are lucky enough to host some of the largest animals on earth - whales! Join us in learning more about these majestic mammals! Particitpants learn all about whale behaviors and observe their food source under our microscopes. Create your own unique whale tail design to take home! For kids ages 6-10.
