Come explore what nature has in store at some of our most amazing wild places on the north shore. Our engaging and experienced staff will introduce families to local beaches, forests, and wetlands to make observations in nature, identify wildlife, and enjoy hands on science activities outdoors. Sign up for one, some, or all!
Looking for a fun night of playing board games? Look no further! This is an ages 18+ evening of gaming. You can bring your favorite game, or borrow one from our extensive collection. We have games of all types available to play!
What animal signs might you see in the winter woods? We'll talk about paw prints, scat, nipped twigs, feathers, and other signs of activity. You'll find out how to detect the size of an animal, the direction and speed of movement, and the age of a track, and we'll give you your own tracking pocket guide for your future adventures!
Come to Spencer Peirce Little Farm for a mid-winter open house and bonfire to celebrate the official purchase of the town of Newbury on January 13, 1701. Come visit the 1690 farm house from 3-4pm. Then walk down to the town-sponsored bonfire and enjoy food, beer, wine, hot chocolate and other beverages that will be available for purchase from local vendors. The bonfire is lit around dusk (~4:30pm) Pre-purchase your parking pass for a guaranteed spot in the parking field. Parking pass ticket $20.
Parker River National Wildlife Refuge invites teens to join refuge staff and members of West Newbury Wild & Native for a workshop on the importance of collecting and sowing native seeds. Learn about local native plants and seed collecting, then rotate through stations to create 3-4 pots of different seed mixes to take home!
Join us to close out our 2023 season with some holiday themed karaoke, winter crafts and games! Bring a batch of cookies to share/swap. We will provide the hot cocoa and fun for the whole family! All ages. This event is free but we welcome donations!
Join us at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary for Flocktober on November 4 from 3:00-6:00PM! Spend the afternoon, outdoors, listening to live music, guided hikes in the foliage, playing a round of cornhole and other lawn games, and viewing birds in their natural habitat. You can get your fill of food from Butter Ur Biscuit food truck and craft beer from Ipswich's True North Brewery. This event is part of Mass Audubon's first ever Flocktober. Gather your flock of family and friends for a fun fall evening!
Play D&D for five sessions with Game Master Erick Gordy from Quest Master's Guild: We’ll make all the characters together at session one. No need to bring your own. We will be starting at level 3, Max HP. For setting, you will have a choice. We can do whichever the majority want to do from the following (in difficulty order): Fungeons and Flagons, Settling Debt, Seven Plunders of the World, Sunset on Avalon, Rime or Reason.
Led by our spirited visionary dungeonmaster, Asa B., this game will challenge you to use every wit in your wizardly (or elfin, or trollish) bag of tricks. See you there! Join any time, just please be sure to register before you come.
