A Winter Solstice Celebration at Harold Parker

Come celebrate the longest night - Winter Solstice - at Harold Parker State Forest

What causes the winter solstice, and what does it mean for us? Come to Harold Parker State Forest and discover this most important day of the year to ancient peoples and also to ourselves. Join us for a cup of hot chocolate! We will celebrate the solstice at sunset at exactly 4:14 pm and usher out the shortest day of the year. Dress warmly and wear hiking footwear, bring water with you. We will be taking a short hike prior to the solstice sunset ritual.

Santa at the Phillips House

Join Santa for some traditional holiday fun at the Phillips House in Salem Massachusetts

Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to Phillips House! Take a photo with Santa and see the elegant Chestnut Street mansion aglow with holiday cheer. Before or after meeting Santa, join us for stories with Mrs. Claus, cookies, cider, and a drop-in Christmas craft workshop, where you can make festive creations to take home and even write your letter to Santa! Craft activities are recommended for families with children ages 4 to 10. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive shortly after 12pm.

Salisbury Block Party

The Salisbury Block party is a fundraiser for the PTA and the Parks & Recreation Department in Salisbury, Massachusetts

Salisbury Days Block Party - The 10th annual CELEBRATION will be held Saturday, September 21st 2024, at Salisbury Beach.  Say goodbye to the summer in the very best way – relaxing seaside, sipping delicious FULL SIZED beverages in the sunshine, DANCING, listening to live music, playing backyard games, with the best of company. We are shaking things up and offering pay as you go full sized beverages w/ a small cover charge to benefit the Salisbury PTA and Salisbury Parks & Rec!

Join the park interpreter exploringt he ponds of Bradley Palmer State Park in Massachusetts!

What kinds of fascinating creatures live in or visit the ponds? Come and explore with the Park Interpreter to see if any creatures are stirring, and if any plants are flowering. For all ages. This is a great family activity! Meet at the ponds next to the Main Parking Lot, 40 Asbury Street, Topsfield.

Star Gazing with the NSAAC

Join the North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club in a to learn about Astronomy at the Hamilton Wenham Public Library

Earth's Moon: How it Came to Be and Why We Have Solar and Lunar Eclipses. In this 30 minute presentation, with North Shore Amateur Astronomy Club (NSAAC) Star Party Coordinator, Brewster LaMacchia, we'll start with a look at the event 4.5 billion years ago, referred to as the Big Splat, that led to the formation of Earth's moon.  Using a variety of simple models we'll develop an intuitive understanding about the moon's orbit around Earth, moon phases, and what it takes for eclipses to happen.  After the presentation we'll head outside to look through telescopes provided by volunteers from the NSAAC.

Grab a board and your candy markers and get ready to BINGO! If you've never played BINGO, now is the time to learn, with treats and prizes in the mix. The winner each session will have their name entered into a very stylish hat. Once we have hit the end of our program time, Teen Librarian Katy will draw three names from the hat and all three will be prize winners! This event is free and for Teens only (incoming 6th-12th grade).
