Bring your young naturalist to the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary to enjoy an afternoon on the Ipswich River! As the summer starts to heat up, cool down with us on a leisurely canoe paddle to Perkins Island. We'll look for sunbathing turtles and other river creatures on the banks and in the backwaters of the beautiful Ipswich River. Once we get to the island, we'll stretch our legs and enjoy some popsicles.
Enjoy a hayride as you journey thru the park and along the river, to appreciate the rosebay rhododendrons as they exhibit their beauty. All programs sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation. Meet in the field across from the parking lot. For all ages. An adult must accompany children 12 & under.
Maudslay State Park has a volunteer program that's a perfect pick for 11 & 12 year olds called Junior Ranger Stewards, part of the Nature Discovery 2 for 1! program.
Each week we will highlight one of the fascinating creatures living in the Sea Pocket Touch Tank Aquarium. Students will participate in hands-on explorations, craft activities, and stories that introduce all the fun features that make the creature unique. Check-in at our Admission Desk at Maritime Gloucester’s Entrance is required due to space limitations.. For kids pre-k through age 6.

Each one will focus on the importance of a sense of place as we explore the ecology, sights, and sounds of our natural landscape. Join the Trustees on a hike up Weir Hill in North Andover in search of wild blueberries! Children and their caregivers are invited to take a stroll through Weir Hill and celebrate blueberry season with a story time of the classic children’s book, [amazon:978-0670175918:inline] by Robert McCloskey. Preschoolers will Imagine, Sing the Learn about water fowl and swans! This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. You'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list in an electronic goody bag!
