You'll learn from researchers about marine habitats, meet some of creatures living there and explore the habitat in real time. In addition to some faithful standards such as touch tanks and tours of East Point, the Center will be showcasing the work and talent of its research labs and academic programs. With a half dozen new faculty members in the past year, there’s a lot more to explore!
Nature journaling is a tool for making discoveries about nature. It involves drawing, but you don't have to be an artist. It involves writing, labeling, and making notes about what you notice and wonder. Above all, it involves taking a closer look. After a brief orientation and introductory exercises, the class will explore the journaling process along the trails of the sanctuary.
Maritime Gloucester wants kids in grades 6-8 to build their own submersible robot! Project Sea Perch is a course in ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) design and construction for middle school students. During the program students will have the opportunity to construct their own underwater robots, test them, and use them in scientific explorations of Gloucester Harbor. Students will keep their ROV’s at the close of the course.
