As fall descends, we will explore the sanctuary forests and wetlands for various fungi and lichens. We will learn what they are and how they are different, and what habitats are common to each. Their beautiful colors, textures, and patterns reveal a beautiful world in all seasons. This can become a wonderful family outdoor hobby, and you will always find new treasures awaiting you if you look closely.

Take this opportunity to teach your children the benefits of stewardship and to have a great time as a family. At Halibut Point State Park and/or the Coolidge Point Reservation, your help is needed cleaning up the shoreline, building a bird box or a boardwalk, or simply drinking in the beauty of our special places. This is a whale watch with a birding twist! Mass Audubon's Joppa Flats Education Center has teamed up with Newburyport Whale Watch, to create this birding whale watch. This program focuses on seabirds, but we plan on seeing and learning about marine mammals as well.

Kids ages 5-17 are invited to come try out their circus skills at a FREE introductory class! Kids classes are designed to be fun and give kids a chance to try a bunch of different circus arts in one class, with a mix of balance equipment (stilts, tight wire), and manipulation (juggling, hula hoops, circus acrobatics, clowning skills, Aerial Silks & Trapeze. Come to the Pizza Fest in Ipswich to sample pizza from local restaurants and raise funds that will be distributed to local students through scholarship programs. This fund raiser event will feature all-you-can-eat pizza, a raffle, local vendors, a bouncy house for the kids, face painting, a DJ, dancing and family fun for all.
