Groundhog Day Extravaganza

Take a closer look at Groundhog Day with the naturalists at Ipswich River Sanctu

Is spring on the way, or are we faced with another six weeks of winter? According to legend, Punxsutawney Phil foretells the impending weather each year. If he sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter. If not, spring is near! Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary celebrates this ritual with a fun afternoon of activities for kids and families!

The Art of Nature: The Forested Landscape

Brenda Sloane leads this workshop at the Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary

Join watercolorist Brenda Sloane in a monthly program that combines nature and art. We will start with a walk on the sanctuary to observe the topic of the month. We will then return to the Nature Center to create a follow-up work of art. Sign up for one or more of these classes.

NEAQ Penguin Presentation at Danvers Library!

The New England Aquarium Penguins are coming to the Danvers Public Library!

The New England Aquarium Penguins are coming to the library! (Children in Grades 1-5 ONLY). New England Aquarium educators will teach children how to act like penguins and how to collect and analyze data like scientists. Please note there will NOT be any live penguins at this program. Each session is limited to 25 participants. Registration required at 978-774-0554. Please register for one session only.

Seasonal Storytelling and Cookie Decorating

Kids just need to bring their imaignation to this cookie decorating workshop!

Join the fun in the cozy Barn where Victor Atkins, Ipswich River's resident storyteller, will share stories about the season, followed by a cookie-decorating workshop. All you need to bring is your imagination! Participants will have the opportunity to decorate their own nature-inspired cookie masterpieces with the help of Sherry Pearl, a professional cookie designer. An optional walk will conclude our morning.

Kids will  learn about all kinds of creatures from the Creature Teachers at MPL

Kids will learn about a variety of different animals from around the world at the Manche Creature Teachers will present  exotic animals up close and personal for children.  Kids will learn about the diverse habitats of our planet and the animals that live there. Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary invites you to come learn about NASA's and NOAA's newest weather monitoring system due for launch in 2015! The evening's program will be an introduction to our nation's next generation of geosynchronous environmental satellites, as described by a member of the GOES-R Ground Segment team.
