Have you ever wished you could draw like a real artist? Or did you ever wonder how artists make images of birds, animals, flowers, and imaginary creatures to look and feel so real? If so, then this is the class for you! We'll use collage and various materials to make seasonal representations of nature's beauty. Our art teacher inspires students to create "wow" works of art and helps them discover, in surprising and wonderful ways, all the things they don't know that they actually do know and can do.  This week we will study and make mandalas.

In the Lyme Light: A Discussion about Ticks and Lyme Disease

Learn about Lyme diease and the ticks that spread them at Newburyport Library

The Newburyport Department of Public Health, Division of Community Nursing will sponsor an informational program on ticks and Lyme disease in the Newburyport Public Library’s Program Room. This event will feature three local specialists: Dr. Joseph Gross, Dr. Ames Ziegra and Dr. Esteban Cuebas-Incle.

Imagine, Sing, & Learn 6B: Beat the Heat!

Beat the Heat at this Imagine Sing and Learn at Joppa Flats Education Center

This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. When it's time to go home, you'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list via email.

Let's Go Fishing! at Parker River NWR

Kids will get instruction in fishing techniques from park personel.

'Let's Go Fishing' is a Free Fun Family Day at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge! This day log Family Event introduces kids and families to the world of fish and recreational fishing through fun hands-on activities and instruction. There will be a morning and afternoon session, making this a full day outing, so it's recommended that you pack a lunch and be ready to be outside all day!

Kayak Family Paddle on the Parker River - June

Kayaking basics are taught along with this family kayak exploration at Joppa

Late spring is a great time to experience on-the-water ecology, and kayaking is the perfect way to capture every moment. From wading birds to waterfowl, the salt marshes provide the backdrop to sights and sounds that are uniquely available from the water. Kayaking quietly on the calm waters of the Plum Island Sound, we'll visit secluded areas where we can witness wildlife without disturbing their activities. We may even see horseshoe crabs mating!

Explore the Crane Wildlife Refuge on a kayak tour in search of horseshoe crab!

Join The Trustees and Essex River Basin Adventures for a guided kayak paddle of the Crane Wildlife Refuge. During this specialty paddle, we will set off by boat in search of migrating horseshoe crabs in Essex Bay. Price includes kayak rental and equipment, tour guides, and launch fees. Clay Sculpting with Ann McCrea

Ann McCrae has 30 + years of art teaching experience.

Kids will hear a story, then use clay to sculpt a character from the book!
