Salem residents & property owners (with ID or tax bill) can recycle e-waste on the last Saturday of the quarter at Salem High School, 77 Willson St. Please stay in your vehicle the whole time and have your items ready to unload in your trunk, truck bed or hatchback – items will not be unloaded from car seats. Please wear a face covering and have your cash or check ready.
NPL is celebrating the start of the Summer Reading program with a visit from the animals of Carriage Shack Farm. From 1-4 p. m. , visit the front lawn of the Library to sign up for Summer Reading and visit with a variety of animals, including goats, chickens, and a pony! If you cannot join us in person, you can still sign up for Summer Reading via the Beanstack app! Ask a librarian for more details.
Don’t throw away your broken item – bring it to the Repair Café! SalemRecycles' 11th Repair Café is on Saturday, March 12 from 9:00am - noon, at the Community Life Center at 401 Bridge St. Appointments are required at this free event, which is for Salem residents only, please.
Sawyer Free Library invites kids and families to celebrate the Holidays at a Harry Potter themed party during the Middle Street Walk 2023! Come for a jolly journey around the Wizarding World! It will be a Happy Holiday at Hogsmeade as we sample butterbeer, as well as many more activities such as wand-making, the sorting hat, a photo booth, family trivia, crafts, and more! Come celebrate Harry Potter with us 11-2 on all 3 floors of the library.
Poetry Ou Loud holds a semi-final competition for students in Newburyport and the surrounding area! Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation contest that celebrates the power of the spoken word and a mastery of public speaking skills while cultivating self-confidence and an appreciation of students’ literary heritage as they take poetry from the page to the stage. Poetry Out Loud has inspired hundreds of thousands of high school students to discover and appreciate both classic and contemporary poetry.
Spend some time with your child reading with Reading Buddy, Zyla the Therapy Dog. Zyla is a beautiful and gentle collie who loves stories of all kinds, so come read to her. These sessions are great for building reading skills and helping readers of all levels gain confidence.
Come to the Children's Room for a reading of Rescue & Jessica: a Life-Changing Friendship by Jessica Kensky and Patrick Downes. We will meet Gus, a Certified Reading Partner and Therapy Dog, and learn about his special training and abilities.
Join us for our family event night on Thursday, January 31st from 6-8pm. The Book Fair will be open for shopping, there will be a book reading by the Author, B.B. Walsh, a photo booth and Cherry Hill ice cream will be available for sale with North Beverly's very own ice cream flavor, "Shooting Stars". Join us for this fun filled event!
