The Firehouse Center for the Arts invites you to the 2014 Earth Port Festival - a collection of environmental short filmsfocusing on short films that create, discover, inspire, catalyze or document environmental action.
The intent of the festival is to demonstrate the power of film in communicating about important issues and is designed to include US and foreign, as well as student films.
Now in it’s 3rd year, the Earth Port Film Festival is well on it’s way to becoming an annual tradition! Films to be screened will be announced on Earth Day, April 22.
Proceeds from the Earth Port Film Festival will be used to support the training and development of Newburyport youth and adults in the art of communicating via film and video.
Children ages 4 and up are invited to come to the library Lego Club. This is a drop-in program requiring no sign up. Drop in any time between 10am and 12pm. (We will have Duplos for the younger kids.) Show off your building skills or just get creative.
Preschoolers will Imagine, Sing the Learn about animal groups in this session! This parent/child program is designed for the creative, curious, and active preschooler. Each 90-minute session offers a structured series of activities including original songs, movement, dramatic play, hands-on science, and a thematic snack. You'll receive coloring pages, song lyrics, vocabulary, a fun fact sheet, and a suggested reading list in an electronic goody bag!

Come to Joppa Flats Education Center for a night hike just before dusk followed by fun activities back at the education center including night vision activities, firefly tag and stargazing! This Walk on the Wild Side is part of a series where adults and children can spend quality family time in the great outdoors finding, observing, and admiring local wildlife.
In 2013, a group of local moms, in partnership with the Winner’s Circle Running Club organized this running/walking event to support the One Fund and the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Last year this event raised $15,000 for the One Fund … let’s do it again! If you are a runner/walker, sign up now to support the cause. There's a special Kids Run at 10am followed by the Charity Run at 10:30am. Event day registration starts at 8:30 AM at Cashman Park.
Every year, the Boston sea Rovers host a two day clinic dedicated to increasing awareness and appreciation of the marine environment, and this year there will be a day of FREE activities and demos for the kid on Sunday! Join the Sea Rovers for fun ocean related activities and presentations during the day. Admission to these special Sunday Kids Day programs for children and adults are FREE!* Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Our theme is Animal Partners and it takes place indoors at Joppa Flats Education Center. This 90 minute program is all about which animals team up with other animals in nature. From fish to honeybees, to hermit crabs and anemones - we will learn why animals work together to become babysitters, housecleaners, and bodyguards to each other!
