One of the few sand-bottom creeks in Essex County, this broad and meandering waterway cuts a perfect footpath through the Great Marsh on its way to Ipswich Bay.

Join award-winning sculptor Dale Rogers on an exploration of FLIGHT, a large-scale sculpture exhibited on the breath-taking grounds that overlook the beautiful marshes of Essex! Enjoy the presentation, then stroll the grounds or pack a picnic and stay to enjoy the scenery!
Let's celebrate our beaches, tide pools, and salt marshes with a full day of fun outdoor/indoor activities! Handle live tide pool animals from our 110-gallon touch tank, go on a guided salt marsh walk, and enjoy a virtual whale watch trip.
On this excursion kids will be ponding with Joppa Flats Education Center at Mill Pond in West Newbury! Come explore the pond habitat and learn about the creatures that live there! We will be exploring the edge of a pond with safe shore access using nets, scoopers, strainers, cups, bowls and spoons. We’ll examine the water, leaf litter and plants with hand lenses and magiscopes. We’ll walk along the edge of the meadow near the pond looking for signs of life and spotting birds. We’ll give out binoculars to all participants. Each participant will take home coloring packets!

Spend a morning on Winter Island Maritime Park exploring the history, coast line, and the park itself. The Friends of Winter Island have a walking tour of Ft. Pickering and a slide presentation of the Winter Island's history. Nelson Dionne, historian for FoWI, will be speaking together with Dr.
Join the Peabody Historical Society & Museum Smith Barn & Peabody Historical Commission for a Trails & Sails exploration of the history of change in a downtown setting, namely Peabody Square. Our reference point will be a letter written in 1902 commenting on places, buildings and people from an earlier Peabody.
