Unicorns, giants and monsters, oh my! This story and craft program will focus on a different mythical creature each week. Please register individually for each week you plan to attend. Registration for first two weeks will start June 24, later dates will open two weeks before each program.

Journey on Essex Heritage’s landing craft Naumkeag to Great Misery Island in Salem Sound. Along the way, hear stories about the rich history of the harbor and how the Misery Islands acquired their unique name. When you arrive, you’ll have 2 hours to explore the trails, open meadows, rocky shoreline, and hidden coves on the island. The Misery Islands are managed by The Trustees. Join Yankee Homecoming at the Nock Middle School as we start off our Super Saturday with good family fun! Many local businesses, organizations and non-profits take part in our Family Day fun offering free crafts, games, activities and handouts. Sit down for some lunch and listen to the band playing on the main stage or watch one of the performances taking part throughout the park.

Join Greenbelt and Northshore Nature Programs to learn all about a pond habitat! Who lives there? What do they eat? How do they get around? Plein air painting is experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly developed as an art form by the French Impressionists. Their desire to paint light and its changing, ephemeral qualities, coupled with the creation of transportable paint tubes and the box easel—the precursor to the plein air easels of today—allowed artists the freedom to paint “en plein air,” which is the French expression for “in the open air.” Space is limited to 15. Ipswich Public Library invites kids and families to kick off the Summer Reading program with Otha Day's Drum to the Beat! The library is hosting a live interactive musical session on the lawn of the Hall Haskell House at 36 S. Main Street. The summer theme is Find Your Voice, and the Children's Room at Ipswich Public Library has planned an amazing drumming program to start off Summer Reading. This program promises lots of audience participation and is designed as a family event for children and the young at heart.
Ages 11-16: Boston-based author/illustrator Jonathan Todd (the upcoming Scholastic graphic novel “Timid") is back, this time for a two-hour workshop on writing and drawing cartoons geared for laughs.
