Grab a blanket and the kids and head over to Salem Common at dusk for an outdoor showing of some favorite family-friendly movies that will get you in the mood for a spooktacular Halloween! Join the City of Salem and Creative Collective on October 2, 2022, in an outdoor screening of Hocus Pocus 2 at the Salem Common, the very same park where Allison and Max walked to school in Hocus Pocus! Please note, the Salem Common is an outdoor venue and seating is not provided. We recommend bringing blankets, pillows, and hoodies. The Food Court will be open on the Common
Wicked Weekends at Gallows Hill Museum/Theatre
Come to the Gallows Hill: Museum and Theater for Salem’s top rated attraction, exploring the Salem witch trials and more. Filled with history, lore and special effects, The Gallows Hill main show is the perfect stop for the Salem visitor. Special events are available during Haunted Happenings in October, including Ghostly tours and haunted attractions.
Edible Science at Salem Public Library
Science you can eat! Make your own ice cream, fizzy soda, and more! Open to children ages 5+. Weather permitting, this program will be held outside, so please dress for summer sunshine!
The Good Witch of Salem’s Potion Making for Kids
This weekly event lets your child be a “Potion Master”! Reserve your slot at the “Good Witch of Salem” shop to take part in the magic. Each child will create their own “Galaxy Jar” to take home.This workshop is limited to 10 children per time slot.
The Running Dead Zombie 5k Challenge
The goal of this race is not to achieve the fastest time, it's survival! Runners will follow the designated course while encountering a terrifying array of the finest Zombies Salem has to offer! Runners will be wearing a flag belt, similar to the ones worn in flag football. The zombies will try to grab the flags off the belt, which ‘kills’ the runner. Once a runner looses all three of their flags, they are ‘dead’. Dead runners will still finish the course and will receive a medal, and anyone who has any flags left after they finish are ‘alive’ and will receive a medal with a “survivor” ribbon attached.
1864 Baseball on the Common
Come see baseball the way it was played during the time of the Civil War. See the Providence Grays take on the Brooklyn Atlantics in an 1864 style vintage base ball game. See how much the game has changed from the time of no gloves, wool uniforms, and heavy wooden bats. Event is free for all to attend.
