The mild heart rate and warm body temperature of the cows induces a slowing of our own heart rate, as well as the release of Oxytocin, our social bonding hormone. Visit our scenic and historic dairy farm and enjoy an hour-long Cow Connection session with our two Jersey Dairy Cows, Gray and Jasmine.
Join the Trustees on Saturday April 20th to celebrate Earth Day on the farm! Neighbors, families, and community members will work together to clean up the farm, complete barnyard projects, restore the chicken enclosure, clean up trails, split and stack wood, assist with property enhancements, and get their hands dirty to care for the great outdoors. Every day has a full list of barnyard chores we need to accomplish to make sure our farmyard friends are happy and healthy. Let’s get to work! Join us for our special, hands-on Family Farm Chores program held on Fridays and Saturdays! Get on your muck boots – your whole family will get to be farmers together. Help feed the rabbits, Violet and Vanilla, the goats, Morgana, Maeve, Merlin, and Mordred, and the dairy cows, Gray and Jasmine. Collect eggs from our flock of chickens, muck and bed the stalls, scrub buckets, fill hay managers, and more.
Have you taken the Sourdough Bread Baking class and want to learn more? Level up your bread baking skills with this workshop led by Culinary Manager Jess Porter. Participants will learn to make a variety of sourdough breads using one base dough. We’ll discuss how to incorporate whole grains, hydration and its purpose, starter types, fermentation, inclusions and proofing in further detail. Class will leave plenty of time for discussion about troubleshooting at home, as well as plenty of bread and savory accompaniments for students to enjoy.
Spring has sprung! It is an excellent time of year for exploring and learning on the farm. We will be planting and harvesting in our garden, taking care of our animals and finding all the signs of spring that nature divulges. Join us on Wednesday mornings from 9:30AM to 12:30PM for a preschool drop-off series to educate your preschooler on farm animals, life cycles, plant parts, and farm fun!
Is there anything more comforting than a chicken pot pie for dinner on a chilly night? Learn how to make this classic pie from complete scratch with our baker Kami. This immersive class will first walk you through all-butter pie dough, followed by utilizing chicken bones to make stock for the gravy base and finally, putting it all together with farm fresh vegetables to create a delicious meal. You will leave this class with the knowledge of how to get the best out of your chicken. Class participants will leave class with a fully formed pie, extra pie dough, and a shared slice at the end.
